Permanent Band 5 Learning Disability Nurse in LD CAMHS West Cheshire.

The post holder would be joining an established Community Team consisting of Learning Disability Nurses, Clinical Support Workers, Assistant Psychologists, a Clinical Psychologist and Psychiatrist.

The post does require the ability to travel in a timely manner across the Cheshire area as needed.

Main duties of the job

The team offer evidence based behavioural and sleep assessments and interventions to children and young people with Severe Learning Disabilities who display behaviours that people may find challenging.

The post holder will be required to carry out the assessment of behaviours and develop person centred behavioural intervention plans for a caseload of young people between the ages of 0-18, the team utilise a Positive Behaviour Support model therefore prior knowledge of this model would be extremely beneficial but not essential. Appropriate support and training will be offered to the successful candidate depending on their experience level.

The post holder would also be required to provide group training to parents and professionals as needed and support and training will be offered around this.

All new clinical support staff will be required to have completed or working towards the Care Certificate (CWP In-house 2 day training to be completed within 6 months of start date).

  • Proven, demonstrable experience of innovation and commitment to lifelong learning.
Desirable
  • Knowledge and understanding of Mental health issues for people with learning disabilities.

  • Experience of working with people with a learning disability.

  • Previous Community Nurse experience.
