Due to an unfilled Higher rotation Training grade post, we wish to appoint full time locum Specialty Doctor to work in our Bexley Getting Risk Support/Adolescent Team. The Bexley service has had significant new investment and is currently in the process of redesigning its Service Model to align with the Thrive framework, a nationally recognised approach, to help us deliver timely, responsive and needs based mental health interventions for the children and young people in Bexley.

Bexley CAMHS is a friendly, busy and thriving CYP IAPT service, regarded as an accessible and effective service. Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust provides mental health, learning disabilities and community services to the London Boroughs of Bexley, Bromley and Greenwich. The Trust and CAMHS have recently been rated as Good by the CQC and has a culture of supporting staff, whilst providing excellent services within a robust clinical governance framework. There are excellent CPD opportunities within the three monthly MAC meeting and monthly CAMHS psychiatry meetings and SPA time is available within the timetable.

Applicants must have MRCPsych or equivalent; and Section 12 approval/eligible. You will have excellent therapeutic skills and be able to be responsive and flexible in working with young people.

Main duties of the job

The GRS Bexley CAMH Services are based at Children and Young People Service, Park Crescent, Erith, Kent DA8 3EE

The service provides evidence-based interventions informed by national and local policy via multi-disciplinary teams and treatment pathways, and is aligned to the core principles of the Children & Young People's IAPT framework (CYP-IAPT). The service has close links to local partner agencies including community children's services, acute paediatrics, social services and education.

You will work to provide a specialist service for children and young people up to 18 years old with significant and enduring mental health difficulties, along with their families and carers within the Borough of Bexley. You will manage a complex caseload providing clinical assessment, and intervention along with the multi-disciplinary team (MDTs). The team include psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, child psychotherapists, social workers, family therapists, occupational therapists, nurses and support workers.

While the Thrive model is being implemented, the post holder will sit in the existing Adolescent team.

The department actively supports CPD and additional training to help achieve personal and professional goals.

Person Specification Experience and Registration Essential
  • Full GMC Registration/Licence to Practise or eligible
  • 4 years full time PG training, at least 2 of which in psychiatry (or equivalent)
  • Experience inpatient and community psychiatry
  • Section 12 approval or eligible

  • MRCPsych or equivalent
