Looking for something a little different from 'usual' Occupational Therapy roles within mainstream provision?

We are looking for a Senior Occupational Therapist with a strong interest in co-production, an enthusiasm for supporting peoples recovery journey, and a desire to develop and expand the provision of offer within the Thurrock Recovery College.

The successful candidate will be part of a multi-agency provision (statutory and tertiary) working alongside those with lived experience to develop and deliver a range of recovery focused groups and workshops to the population of the Thurrock location.

Main duties of the job

Working for EPUT NHS Foundation Trust, the post holder will assist with the transitioning of care from secondary mental health services to Thurrock Recovery College, linking secondary and primary care services. In partnership with Recovery College, the Occupational Therapist will develop and provide specialist bio-psycho-social educative programmes for Recovery College.

There is a strong professional structure to support Occupational Therapists within the Trust. Within this structure there is support given towards personal and professional development through training and support structures.

Working with all agencies involved with delivery of groups and workshops within Recovery College
  • To enable students, through discussion, to identify within their Individual Learning Plans (ILP) appropriate courses that meet their functional needs.
  • In liaison with colleagues within local mental health teams, identify potential students for the continuation of their recovery journey within the recovery college, assist with the transition process.
  • To regularly review students progress in order to evaluate and interpret effectiveness of recovery plans
  • To ensure that intervention offered is based on the best available evidence for effectiveness in the specialist area where it is applied. To participate in audit, research and evidence based practice
  • To attend relevant clinical case discussions and meetings
  • To attend professional Occupational Therapy /Recovery College meetings as required
  • To take responsibility for developing as a professional
