The exciting opportunity for a social worker Band 6 has arisen in the Mental Health Crisis Intervention team.

The service provides crisis and acute care in the community to individuals in Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire and we will be working closely with Yorkshire Ambulance Service proving care to distressed individuals.

We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals who have experience of working with people who have complex needs.

We are seeking individuals who are open to and keen to lead on innovation, developing robust care pathways and enhancing patient experience.

The service provides crisis support for the locality and provides urgent care, mental health assessments and home-based treatment. The service runs over a 24hr/7 day a week period and you will be rostered to work long days or nights, creating opportunities for a good work/life balance.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be a qualified and registered social worker. They should have experience in working in mental health. They will assess service users in a crisis with complex needs, develop robust care plans and ensure the service user continues their recovery journey. You will provide supervision to staff and mentor candidates through the ASYE programme.

We are seeking proactive and confident people who can adapt to changing situations and environments. You will be responsible for leading the team through the shift coordination role and will be expected to be an active member of the multi-disciplinary team, contributing to the service delivery.

This is an ideal opportunity to develop a wide range of skills, including triage taking, assessment and intervention. Within this role, there is a significant element of working closely with other agencies and the ability to develop good working relationships with others is essential.

Person Specification Qualifications and Knowledge Essential
  • Full understanding of relevant policy, legislation, drivers and their application to the service area, e.g. Safeguarding, Mental Health Act, Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, Social Inclusion, Liberty Protection Safeguards and other relevant legislation.
  • Full understanding/application of relevant practice/standards/audit within identified service area
Desirable
  • Evidence of project work that has impacted on practice and demonstrates a higher level of communication/planning/change that impacts within own area of work/responsibility
Experience Essential
  • Evidence of development of specialist practice skills and able to demonstrate the impact of this on practice change/development
  • Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) relevant to the service area at specialist level
Desirable
  • Development of specialist/advanced level of professional/practice skills and able to demonstrate the impact of this on practice change/development
  • Leadership/management experience which has had a positive impact and created change within the service delivery/practice
Qualifications Essential
  • Degree and current professional registration held with Social Work England
  • Demonstrable experience of mentoring pre-registration students/supervising staff
