To contribute to the provision of a specialist mental health pharmacy service within the Scarisbrick Centre at Ormskirk & District General Hospital, part of Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust. The Scarisbrick Centre is a 22 bedded mental health unit situated in Ormskirk, West Lancashire. The unit has 2 wards, an Adult Acute and a Psychiatric Intensive Care ward. As a purely clinical service there is currently no pharmacy-based dispensary commitment, bank holiday or weekend working.

This role can be part time or full time and there is no current requirement to work on-call, Bank Holidays or weekends and no dispensary duties.

Main duties of the job

An opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic specialist clinical pharmacist to join a small pharmacy team based at the mental health unit in Ormskirk. You will have close links to the wider pharmacy department across LSCFT. The successful applicant will be working within one of the Trust's inpatient settings alongside members of a multi-disciplinary team to support prescribing and offer specialist clinical pharmacy advice.

The main duties of the post holder will be to provide a patient-focussed clinical pharmacy service to service users in the inpatient setting. You will be expected to provide a high level of pharmaceutical care to patients as part of the wider multi-disciplinary team, participate in consultant ward reviews, undertake clinical audit and be actively involved in the education and training of trainee pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and other healthcare professionals. The role also involves providing support to other members of the Pharmacy team through clinical supervision.

The role demands an organised, flexible individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to work on their own initiative.

This post is offered on a fixed term basis for 12 months from November 2022 to cover the maternity leave of one of our inpatient specialist mental health pharmacists.
