Therapy for You (NHS Talking Therapies) in North East Essex are looking to recruit an enthusiastic highly motivated clinician to the position of primary care liaison therapist. You will be part of a large team comprising high intensity therapists, psychological wellbeing practitioners, counsellors and support workers, working within the plans for transformation and integration of services across primary care.

Main duties of the job

As a clinical representative of the Therapy for You (NHS Talking Therapies), you will have excellent communication and relationship building skills to liaise with a variety of stakeholders including health and social care colleagues to promote the service, link with GPs, surgery staff, patients and establish pathways between services.

Job description Job responsibilities

This role in the Therapy For You (NHS Talking Therapies) service aims to provide a range of support and advice services to GP practices and external organisations across Colchester and Tendring alongside holding a Step 2 clinical caseload.

The post-holder will
  • Hold an NHS Talking Therapies compliant therapy qualification and offer evidence-based psychological interventions for adults presenting with anxiety and/or depression.
  • Develop and support integrated referral pathways with both primary and secondary care colleagues to ensure seamless step up and step down pathways between services.
  • Work alongside various health professionals, community navigators and wider community agencies to ensure seamless referral pathways.
  • Engage with GPs, practice managers and staff to promote understanding of service of treatment offers.
  • Engage with Patient Participation Groups at GP Surgeries as appropriate.
  • Maintain and develop links raising the services profile via visits to GP practices throughout the area and through regular interaction with GPs and practice managers.
  • Attend meetings, forums and other meetings as required.
  • Audit practice referral data, identify and target low- referring practices and initiate support required as appropriate.
  • Ensure regular visits are made to all GP surgeries by link workers to distribute and replenish marketing materials.
  • Audit waiting list information against nationally and contractually agreed targets and produce internal reports to inform service managers.
  • Update on service developments, improvements and offers at practice meetings and other forums.Negotiate use of therapeutic space in surgeries as appropriate to assist with delivery of therapy to local populations.
  • Produce quarterly practice specific newsletter for GP practices and staff, giving up to date waitlist information, service development and treatment offer information


Person Specification Qualifications/Experience Essential
  • IAPT compliant therapeutic qualification
  • Experience of working in primary care mental health settings
  • Experience of partnership working
Desirable
  • Experience of providing mentorship/supervision
Knowledge Essential
  • Understanding of the IAPT stepped care model
  • Knowledge of different common mental health problems
Skills Essential
  • The capacity to adapt core psychological approaches to the primary care culture, incorporating a range of skills to meet a broad spectrum of presenting issues which will ensure that people with mental and physical health problems receive joined -up health care
  • Ability to be self -reflective, whilst working with service users, in own personal and professional development and in supervision
  • Ability to work within a team and foster good working relationships
  • Ability to use clinical supervision and personal development positively and effectively
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to, liaise and network with a wide range of organizations and members of the public
  • Ability to use outcome measures for both clinical and audit purposes
  • Ability to travel across sites efficiently and across Trust boundaries to attend meetings, etc.
