Kensington and Chelsea Rehabilitation team have an exciting opportunity to offer a permanent contract for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist.

You will be working alongside senior Physiotherapy colleagues, Occupational Therapists and rehab assistants providing home & community based rehabilitation programmes in a diverse and exciting Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. You will also be working closely with Urgent care response, Home fist and Reablement teams.

This post would be suitable for an Occupational Therapist with an interest in working in the community, who wants to consolidate their skills in the area of community rehabilitation.

Main duties of the job

This post will give the successful applicant opportunity to experience a wealth of learning and development and to work alongside a responsive dynamic team who put patient centred care at the heart of what they do. We work in an inter-disciplinary way to provide client-centred, goal focused therapy to patients in the community.

You will have an interest in working as part of a team to provide high quality, patient centred interventions. The caseload is comprised of patients with multiple complex health needs. As such, you will have the opportunity to develop a wide range of clinical skills and interests in areas such as falls and frailty, orthopaedics, general medical and surgical conditions.

Job description Job responsibilities

  • To promote, maintain and develop a high quality, efficient and effective Occupational Therapy service to clients referred to Community Independence Service, in a multi-disciplinary context, and in accordance with the philosophy and operational policies of the team.
  • Expected to be an active member of the multi-disciplinary team, and participate in specific clinical projects as agreed and supported by Team Lead, and participate in service developments, audit and review of the service.
  • To provide supervision to Rehabilitation Assistants and OT students whilst on placement in the service


Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy
  • Registration with HCPC as an Occupational Therapist
Desirable
  • Post-graduate qualification relevant to the healthcare environment
  • Member of RCOT and or involvement in professional network
Experience Essential
  • Post-qualification experience in NHS or similar healthcare economy
  • Experience in independently managing a caseload of patients
  • Experience of supervising junior colleagues & students
  • Evidence of multi-disciplinary working
Desirable
  • Previous community therapist experience
  • Experience in a rehabilitation setting
Skills Essential
  • Develop and maintain communication with people about difficult matters and/or in difficult situations
  • Contribute towards improving quality in own work area and encourage others to do so
  • Ability to inspire & motivate clients
  • Sound decision-making skills and the ability to prioritise own caseload & time management activity in the face of conflicting demands
