Main duties of the job

Your role will be to provide individual and group clinical work jointly with your colleagues.

You will promote psychological ideas by offering advice and consultation in addition to supervision and training to colleagues, multi-disciplinary practitioners, the wider organisation and contribute to service development.

We support and develop our staff to work with complexity, for example, by accessing training resources to support your work with trauma and dissociation and offer specialist clinical supervision (eg CFT, complex dissociation, EMDR).

You will be joining a Psychology and Psychological Therapies Division with wide range of expertise and a strong identity in a time of growth.

Person Specification Training and Qualifications Essential

• Good Honours degree in Psychology (2:1 or above). Eligibility for Graduate membership of B.P.S.
• Post-graduate doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996 or those in lateral transfer) as accredited by the B.P.S./HCPC
• Registered as a Practitioner Psychologist by the HCPC
• Eligible for Chartered status of B.P.S.
• Post qualification training in supervision of other psychologists
• Post qualification specialist training/experience of assessment/intervention for people with complex mental health problems (1-2 points relevant to experience/evidence of this)

Desirable

• Post qualification training in a therapy model (score 2 points if completed, 1 point if in process of training)
• Chartered status with BPS

Experience Essential

• Experience of working with clients across a variety of settings (1-2 points depending on experience/evidence)
• Commitment to developing specialist area of expertise relevant to the post through significant training, personal study etc (1-2 points depending on experience/evidence)

Desirable

• Expertise and interest in specialist area relevant to adult mental health (1-2 points depending on experience)
• Training and interest in DBT framework (1-2 points depending on experience)

Knowledge and Skills Essential

• Very high level of interpersonal and communication skills enabling written and oral presentation and receipt of complex and sensitive information, to facilitate acceptance, and relate effectively in an emotive and hostile environment (1-2 points depending on experience/evidence)

Desirable

• Ability to process text, set up and use databases and spreadsheets

Personal Essential

• Enthusiasm for psychology in relation to MH Problems. Interest in developing/consolidating skills in working with complex trauma and associated diagnoses (1-2 points dependent on experience/evidence)
