We are seeking an energetic, highly motivated and experienced Band 6 Charge Nurse who has the skills and knowledge in the assessment of inpatient units at Little Plumstead Hospital in Norwich looking after service users with learning disability.

The Broadland Clinic is a 25-bed unit providing high levels of assessment and intervention to patients with intellectual and other developmental disabilities detained under the Mental Health Act with complex and enduring problems, including criminal offending. The service has a very strong track record of engaging in innovative research with academic partners.

The successful candidate will receive up to £120 towards their registration fee, which will be paid upon commencement. This payment will be subject to tax and national insurance deductions. Assistance with relocation is also available, payment amount to be agreed individually based on each appointment.

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will form part of a multi-disciplinary team consisting of clinical psychology, psychiatry, nursing, occupational therapy, social worker and speech and language therapy.
  • You will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be flexible and able to use initiative. You will also need to be capable of working independently as well as part of the wider multidisciplinary team and be adaptable to the changing needs of the organisation and be able to work across disciplines.
  • The successful candidate will work closely with the team leaders to develop a robust nursing team to deliver outstanding patient care. Our charge nurse work autonomously and support all team members to develop their skills in many areas of nursing care. You will deliver supervision and development reviews as well as monitor and maintain safe staffing levels.

Person Specification QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING Essential
  • Relevant professional qualifications i.e. RNLD and up to date registration
  • Management/Leadership Qualifications or willingness to attend Leadership training
  • Education to degree standard or equivalent relevant experience
  • Preceptorship and Mentorship /ENB 998
EXPERIENCE Essential
  • 2 years experience on an Inpatient setting as a Band 5
  • Demonstrable Clinical Skills in individual care planning.
  • Ability to seek supervision and provide supervision to others.
  • Knowledge of conducting Personal Development plan with others.
  • Ability to listen and acknowledge and manage complaints in an objective manner
  • Ability to use resources appropriately and being aware of financial constraints.
