We are the First Point of Contact Centre for Gloucester Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust.
  • Our service has expanding to encompass the changing need of routine, urgent and crisis referrals in line with local and national guidance.
  • We deliver an extended hours 7 days a week service, which accepts professional and self-referrals in to the trust.
  • We will triage and move the referral to the appropriate pathway or team, who will provide the most effective and beneficial service, within our trust services, or our partner agencies and organisations outside of the trust.
  • We work alongside our emergency service colleagues at the Tri-service centre. We have an excellent working relationship with our Force Control Room colleagues

You will have - Registered Practitioner status (nursing, allied health, psychological and social care professionals) with a significant time post qualifying experience within a mental health setting.

Main duties of the job

The FPCC hours of business are currently 07:00hrs - 22:00hrs 7 days a week. However, as a developing service we may be required to provide 24/7 hrs of business.

We are looking for experienced, highly motivated, and enthusiastic individuals, who can help shape and develop this service to meet its full potential.

We are a busy team, managing the mental health referrals that come in to the Trust from a number of primary care, and secondary care services, and self referrals - serving the county of Gloucestershire. We can answer upwards of 1500 calls a month!

We provide a central resource for referrers and Trust staff to ensure the effective receipt and subsequent processing of referrals into the Trust's services. We further provide effective signposting to services external to the Trust.

We accept routine, urgent and crisis referrals, each having a specific pathway.

We provide an effective first point of contact, a link with primary and secondary services, partner agencies and organisations outside of the trust.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • oRegistered Mental Health Practitioner status or Registered Practitioner with significant mental health experience (nursing, allied health, psychological and social care professionals) registered with a governing body for example the NMC
Desirable
  • oEuropean Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) or equivalent
Lenghth and Nature of Experience Essential
  • Demonstrable post qualification experience of atleast 2 years in mental health or related areas
  • Sound experience of first line assessments including assessment of risk
  • oDemonstrates high standards in written communication and has the ability to communicate clearly in difficult and complex situations
  • oProven skills in multi-disciplinary working, with experience of communicating across teams, stat and non-stat agencies and GP's.
Desirable
  • oSound Experience of conducting appraisals and monitoring performance of staff
  • oExperience of collaborative working with other agencies including the voluntary sector
Professional/Managerial/Specialist Knowledge Essential
  • oExcellent understanding of issues surrounding clinical risk
  • oSound understanding of the requirements of primary care and secondary care
  • oA sound understanding of the Mental Health Act and other associated legislation
  • oExcellent written and communication skills, and able to communicate effectively with a wide range of agencies.
  • oAn excellent understanding of the range of Services offered within Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust.
Desirable
  • oExperience of using psychological treatments e.g. CBT/Anxiety management ...
  • oA good understanding of other community/voluntary facilities that may be of help to people with a mental health problem.
