We are now recruiting International Mental Health Nurses to our trust. We are particularly looking to hear from Mental Health, Psychiatric and Learning Disability Nurses who have passed their IELTS/OET and completed or in the process of completing their Mental Health Nurse Test of Competency (CBT) .

We are looking for highly motivated nurses who can demonstrate excellent clinical and interpersonal qualities. The successful candidate must be willing to work in a fast paced environment, have a positive outlook and ensure that delivering a high quality service, which genuinely engages with service users, carers and other stakeholders, is a key priority.
Our service users are a diverse group of people with complex needs. We have 201 beds in the Secure Inpatient Service for patients with severe and enduring mental health problems and learning disabilities.
Main duties of the job
Secure Inpatient Services works collaboratively with patient's and their relatives and carers to provide needs led, patient centered approach, managing risk, developing a plan of care and recovery focused therapeutic interventions, working towards a safe planned recovery and rehabilitation.
We will support you by offering regular supervision, training opportunities and encourage your development and role within this evolving service on the delivery of Patient Centered Care, support for carers and evidence based practice.
Initially, you will join the trust as a Band 4 HCA whilst you are working towards passing your OSCE in Mental Health and becoming a Band 5 Registered Nurse (Mental Health/Learning Disability). You will be provided with bespoke training and support to enable you to successfully complete your OSCE exam and register with the NMC as part of the Mental Health Workforce.
The position requires shift work, including occasional nights, on a rotational basis.

The Secure Inpatient Service provides a specialist service for adults with a mental health disorder, learning disability or autism who exhibit behaviours of concern to others and to themselves. The service provides individualised, comprehensive packages of care within Medium and Low Secure inpatient settings and has links to High Secure services and prisons.
The ethos of the service is to work collaboratively with service users and carers in the completion of assessments, treatment, intervention planning and rehabilitation to enable a person-centered recovery-focused approach to care, meeting their needs in a holistic manner.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities, Patient Contact
Maintains safety, privacy and dignity of all patients in the delivery of patient centred care, recognising and respecting differences including spiritual and cultural beliefs .
Takes steps to obtain patient consent to care and treatment in accordance with the Mental Capacity Act, ensuring that patients who lack mental capacity are cared for in the least restrictive way; where restrictions are in place, considers whether a deprivation of liberty is occurring and raises this with the senior nurse.
Acts, wherever applicable, in accordance with the Mental Health Act andassociated policies and procedures.
Responsible for recognising the potential for or signs of patient harm, abuse or neglect, including poor clinical practice, reporting all such concerns and taking all reasonable steps to protect the patient. Responsible for identifying and reporting concerns regarding the safeguarding of children who may be at risk.
Maintains and further develops a physical and psychological environment
Conducive to the provision of high quality care at all times and which is gender specific and balances therapeutic and security needs.
Ensures the highest professional standards and attitudes towards the care of patients from all ward staff. Patients have learning disabilities (some with additional mental health conditions) and a history of offending behaviour which may include sexual or violent offences. Patients may demonstrate behaviours that challenge and may have difficult family situations of relevance.
Acts as named nurse for patients on Standard Care and takes responsibility as care coordinator for patients on Care Programme Approach as appropriate.
Participates in pre-admission assessments in conjunction with the clinical lead nurse and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
Assesses patients needs and develops, implements and evaluates intervention plans as part of the multi-disciplinary team, with the involvement of the patient and where appropriate, their carer. Guidance is provided by the clinical lead as required, for more complex patients.
Ensures intervention plans are based on current risk assessment, evidence based practice, critical thinking and whole system support requirements that take account of relevant physical, social, cultural, psychological, spiritual, genetic and environmental factors.
Undertakes risk assessments in accordance with the Trusts Clinical RiskAssessment and Management Policy, devising and implementing actions and intervention plans which take the risk formulation fully into account.
Maintains a domestic and homely environment within the unit, encouraging and teaching patients to participate in self care and domestic tasks.
May be required to accompany and provide support to patients away from the clinical area dependent on current risk assessment. This may include social inclusion/community integration/transfer to and from appropriate areas e.g. acute hospitals, police stations, prison, court etc. Drives Trust vehicles as and when required, if licensed.
Responsible for the safe administration of medicines in accordance with Trust policy, legal requirements and NMC guidance.
Provides health education and advice on health promotion to patients and their carers.
Contributes to the planning and co-ordination of clinical interventions to challenging behaviour such as self harm and aggression.
Promotes positive interventions based on a formulation of the factors surrounding a patients behaviour.
Demonstrates safe physical interventions in the management of violence and aggression as required.

- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
- MIP, FLIP, ENB 998 Teaching & Assessing in Clinical Practice or City & Guilds 730 Teaching in Adult Education or willingness to work towards. Qualification must be achieved within agreed timescale
- Working with people with learning disabilities, mental ill health or autism.
