We are looking for a qualified Clinical Psychologist to join our team providing high quality community services to older people within North East Hants and Farnham, with the clinical base at Aldershot Centre for Health. We work with those over 65-years who are faced with mental health and/or memory problems.

Our Psychology department recognise the importance of support for team members, have regular CPD sessions, externally provided skills workshops (e.g. CAT, CFT) and access to specialist neuropsychology supervision monthly in addition to regular clinical supervision, management supervision, and peer support. Our Trust is a pilot site for the Transformation agenda opening up further opportunities to train and develop skills allied to expanding and developing services and specialisms. Our department has expanded rapidly in the past few years allowing for further opportunities to take forward clinician interests, with strong links to local training courses.

We offer a comprehensive induction programme, with regular supervision and a good peer support network. We value the contribution of our team and are able to offer some flexibility of working around service need, including both remote and in-person aspects of working.

Main duties of the job

This exciting role will involve working with a degree of autonomy alongside providing the opportunity to develop both your therapy and neuropsychology skills. You will conduct detailed assessment and formulation, therapeutic intervention and neuropsychological assessments, covering both functional and organic problems for people living in the local community.

You will be working collaboratively with members of a well-established multi-disciplinary team, where psychology is highly valued in the team. A key part of this role will be using clinical leadership skills to influence teams in embedding psychosocial approaches within everyday practice. You will also be supporting and supervising other team members.

There will be opportunities to lead on quality improvement projects and to contribute to the development of psychology provision across older peoples services. We support the undertaking of leadership and supervisor training to enable you to develop your skills and progress in your role.

The opportunities in this role would suit both experienced Clinical Psychologists interested in continuing working with Older People as well as newly qualified Clinical Psychologists (or those who are about to get HCPC registration).

The post holder may be required to travel throughout Surrey in line with service need and therefore a car driver or a willingness to travel by public transport is desirable.

Key Responsibilities

Person Specification Experience Essential

• Experience of working with people from across the life span with a range of mental health issues and cognitive profiles.
• Experience across a range of psychological models including systemic, behavioural and individual therapeutic.
• Experience of working with older people within a positive behaviour support framework.
• 6 months experience of working with older people with mental health difficulties and/or dementia (can be pre-qualification).

Desirable

• Up-to-date knowledge of key policies and guidelines for older people & dementia care.

Qualifications Essential

• Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology qualification or equivalent.
