Specialist Learning Disability Dietitian (Band 6)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to work within the Norfolk Learning Disability Service.

Learning disabilities is a challenging yet rewarding area to work in. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join a friendly team of band 6 dietitians and a band 7 team lead. The learning disability dietetic team is closely aligned to five locality based teams across Norfolk which are integrated with social care therefore multi-disciplinary working is a key element within this role.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will hold and manage their own caseload of patients. You will assess and treat patients for a wide range of nutritional concerns and liaise with acute specialist dietitians regionally, as well as with Addenbrookes and London teams who provide specialist services. You will also be involved in providing training and education to patients, carers and other support staff such as: nutrition support & dysphagia. There will be opportunities to become involved in-service development and quality improvements.

Whilst you will be line managed and supervised by the team lead you will be supported by the whole team, as well as support from the learning disability health team manager for that locality.

Your base is likely to be County Hall as you will be working predominantly within the City and East LD Team. However, this is negotiable and will be taken into consideration with the needs of the service. You may be expected to provide input and cover county wide as needed, therefore travel is required. Whilst you will have an office base, alternative working arrangements eg: working from home/other sites are a key feature of this role. Flexible working arrangements can be discussed.

The dietetic learning disability team are part of a wider community dietetic team who are based at Thorpe Health Centre. Free parking is available on site.
