The Associate Nurse Consultant will be an experienced practitioner who is able to demonstrate a very high degree of personal and professional skill in the care of Adults with complex mental health difficulties.

To promote at all times a positive image of people with mental healthconditions.Working with the senior clinical leadership and management team, to ensure that the service operates in a recovery focused way, enabling individuals to achieve their recovery goals.

The post holder will be an independent prescriber and will initiate, alter and stop medication related to mental health as determined by assessment and diagnosis and interpret and adapt NICE guidelines and clinical pathways where these exist.

The post holder will deliver mental health assessment, diagnostic and appropriate interventions in line with NICE guidance.The post holder will be required to work independently and autonomously and be accountable for his or her own area of practice.

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced mental health nurse to clinically lead and support the Adult Mental Health Community teams in the Easington Primary Care Networks.

The successful applicant will be a Level 3 NMP or soon to qualify at Level 3. Masters level qualification or working towards is required. You will have extensive experience of working within adult mental health secondary care, supervising staff and non medical prescribing. Key relationships will be within the primary care networks, secondary mental health teams, inpatients and most importantly with patients, carers and families.

The post holder will be a key leader, able to work at a strategic, organisational and operational level. You will have excellent communication skills and be able to demonstrate a flexible approach to service delivery.

You will be part of nursing leadership and development of nurses will be part of your role.

You will work alongside Medical colleagues and the wider MDT to develop high quality care.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • Registered Mental Nurse / RMN
  • Relevant post-basic clinical qualification(s) with a professional portfolio supporting this.
  • Independent and Supplementary Nurse Prescribing Course Certificate
  • Masters level qualification.
  • AC/RC status or willingness to work toward within 12 months of appointment
  • Teaching qualification
Experience Essential
  • Post registration experience in senior nursing position
  • Currently engaged in significant clinical work with people with a complex mental illness at an advanced level of practice and can demonstrate a high degree of professional autonomy in this area
  • Change management experience
  • Organisational development experience
Skills Essential
  • Leadership skills, e.g. can exercise leadership to support and inspire colleagues.
  • Goal setting and delivery of targets within deadlines. Working well under pressure, within tight deadlines, and producing good quality results.
