We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Mental Health Practitioner in Guildford Mental Health Safe Haven.
We are seeking to find a Mental Health Practitioner who can come and make a difference by contributing to the triage, assessment and treatment of people experiencing a mental health crisis and their carers by ensuring that a right service is provided, at the right time with the best outcome.
You will be required to work in partnership with non-statutory organizations aimed to provide more integrated, preventative care.
This post is for 15 hours a week to be worked over 3 days (1800hrs-2300hrs).
The candidate must have a full and valid driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes due to the community element of this role.
Main duties of the job
This a unique innovative service that is putting mental health needs of services users at the forefront. You will be responsible for providing assessments of services users attending the Safe Haven in crisis and to informally interact with services users who may present for support.
You will assist the Team Manager in developing and maintaining the quality of the support, including monitoring high standards of service user care and developing areas of clinical excellence / best practice and a therapeutic & compassionate caring culture.

Job description Job responsibilities
To provide available for assessment whenever service users or carers requires.
To ensure individuals are directed to the primary or secondary care service which is best suited to meet their needs.
To reduce the likelihood of duplicate assessments for individuals.
To work closely with referrers providing expert guidance and support with a view to increasing the threshold of acuity of mental ill health cases managed in primary care (in line with a stepped model of care).
To provide care and support in a comfortable and relaxed non clinical environment
To triage referrals and undertake crisis assessments, and routine interactions (where required).
To harness the concept of alternative provision to A& E attendances in order to relieve pressure in General Hospitals and to advise service users on opportunities for providing care closer to home as a viable alternative to hospital admission.
To liaise with the key services or the out-of-hours Social Services Emergency duty team, in order to arrange Mental Health Act assessments where needed.
To manage a crisis caseload, contributing to the development of a comprehensive care package and delivering evidence-based interventions for a time- limited period, in order to reduce the likelihood of the crisis episode reoccurring and to increase resilience.
To develop comprehensive care packages for service users who have received a face-to-face assessment and signpost them as required by the, Community Mental Health Teams and the Adult Acute Care Services.
