Exciting opportunity to work within a progressive dynamic Older peoples service in Derby City.

Are you a dynamic, motivated doctor seeking a broad experience in Psychiatry at junior doctor level (CT1). If so we are able to offer you a 6 month fixed term contract working within an established and experienced multi-professional team.

This full-time post in Psychiatry is held within a flagship Dementia Assessment Unit based at Kingsway Hospital, Derby. The ward is a 36 bedded specialist unit supporting admission, assessment and discharge for the population of Derbyshire.

The post offers opportunities to experience the whole pathway of Old Age Psychiatry, weekly supervision and the teaching of medical students. The Trust offers you access to its journal club and on site learning including all mandatory training .

Main duties of the job

You will be working in a well-established and supportive, multi-disciplinary, team under the supervision of an experienced Clinical Supervisor.

You will also have opportunities to pursue Quality Improvement/Research projects within a well-resourced service. Study opportunities include a weekly Psychiatric Journal Club/Case Conference.

All candidates will need to have excellent communication skills, hold full GMC registration without conditions and a license to practice at the time of appointment.

Job description Job responsibilities

This is a 0900-1700 full-time job working within an established and experienced multi-professional team looking after a diverse case mix of patients who experience behaviours that challenge in the context of dementia and delirium. Comorbidity is common including frailty-related disorders, the consequences of alcohol misuse, social care breakdown and complex relationship dynamics. Models of care are consequently deployed flexibly from palliative approaches to neurorehabilitation within the biopsychosocial paradigm. The ward is a Trust pilot for the Teepa Snow, Positive Approach to Care scheme.
