An exciting opportunity has arisen for permanent Band 6 Mental Health Practitioners to join The Mental Health Central Access Point. The posts are open to qualified Mental Health Nurses, Occupational Therapists and Social Workers that have experience and knowledge of caring for people with an acute mental illness.
The key skills required for this role will be the ability to demonstrate excellent on-going assessment, risk assessment and problem-solving skills. The successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to work independently, also demonstrate flexibility in the way they work and able to take on different roles within the pathway.
The job is a 24-hr rotational, and candidate will be expected to work night duty.
Main duties of the job
The role will involve dealing with and supporting highly distressed individuals.
Referrals to the Mental Health Central Access point come via health professionals or individuals and family can self-refer.
You will be expected to triage individuals via the phone and sign post them to appropriate services for follow up. Following triage these may move through the urgent access pathway and your role will be to make sure that this is a seamless pathway for the individual.
You will be expected to support healthcare support workers in decision making.
You will also be expected to co-ordinate a shift which also involves screening referrals according to urgency and allocating work to your colleagues
