To exercise full responsibility and autonomy for the assessment, intervention, and evaluation of adults referred to the LPfT Perinatal Service, where the presenting difficulties and concerns can be managed as a psychologically based intervention.To exercise full responsibility for the management of incoming referrals, the waiting list, allocation of Service Users, workload of staff members in the Perinatal Service and Maternal Mental Health Service and decisions about the nature of the service provided and point of discharge.
Main duties of the job
We have an exciting opportunity for an innovative and enthusiastic Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join our highly regarded Perinatal Mental Health Service. This post is for an 8B & is to cover maternity leave for at least 1 year, this will be for a fixed term period or a secondment (Agreement from current line manager required)Applications from current 8A psychologist would be welcomed.
This role involves providing individual and systemic support to women and their families within the community. The focus will be on delivering formulation based and NICE recommended psychological interventions to women with moderate to severe mental health difficulties who are pregnant or within 24 months of the postnatal period. We offer a range of therapeutic modalities including CBT, EMDR, CFT, ACT.
Our service aims to provide specialist and early help to parents and babies to help with a range of Perinatal mental health issues. We are passionate in providing trauma informed care.
You will receive regular management and clinical supervision as well as reflective practice. You will also receive support and supervision from the Senior Psychologist within the team. You will be one of a team of Psychologists who work in the perinatal and maternity mental health service as well as the wider Community mental health teams.

The LPFT Perinatal Psychology resource is a specialist resource that offers assessment and intervention to adults who have complex mental health needs and/or psychological needs within the perinatal pathway or the maternal mental health pathway.The post holder will provide highly specialised psychology input to the Perinatal Service and Maternal Mental Heath Service, in the form of direct psychological interventions with clients, group work, consultation and training with colleagues.The post holder will be line managed by the Perinatal Team Manger and have access to clinical and professional supervision from a Consultant Clinical Psychologist.
