We are seeking a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist or CBT therapist to join our dynamic team (HCPC registered). This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a unique branch of mental health at a time of exceptional change and growth.

The successful candidate will be an energetic and robust individual with sophisticated and sensitive clinical skills, and a proven track record of delivering high-quality services in either the NHS, social care, or the private sector. Previous experience in delivering CBT and working in adult mental health and/or addiction are essential. Further experience in psychodynamic or systemic work would also be highly desirable. The post-holder will work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the service's policies and procedures and will be responsible for implementing a range of psychological interventions for individuals and groups. They will be a key part of the MDT and will liaise closely with colleagues from the clinic and other community services to provide true partnership working and seamless care pathways.

Main duties of the job

The role will be part of the Addictions Recover Community, Hillingdon (ARCH) team, based in Uxbridge, but predominantly community-facing, working in sites across the borough.

The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to engage with hard-to-reach individuals to provide treatment within a variety of community-based settings. You will have a range of therapeutic skills to support service users such as motivational interviewing techniques, CBT, DBT, and trauma-informed approach to encourage service users to work toward recovery.

The candidatewill work with other members of the team to ensure clients' wider needs are met and risk is robustly managed. Knowledge of dual diagnosis, physical health, and assessment skills would be beneficial.

Job description Job responsibilities

To provide specialist psychological assessments of clients referred to the team based on the appropriate use, interpretation, and integration of complex data from a variety of sources.

To formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of a clients gaming problem and/or mental health problems, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the clients problems, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy, across the full range of care settings.

To work with the ARCH Rough Sleepers team and other ARCH departments to the delivery of individual and group-based psychological treatment programmes (rooted in MI/CBT principles as well as other evidence-based approaches) in conjunction with other Psychologists in the team.

To be responsible for implementing a range of psychological interventions for individuals and groups, within and across teams employed individually and in synthesis, adjusting and refining psychological formulations drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses.

To undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual clients and to provide advice to other professions on psychological aspects of risk assessment and risk management.

To liaise and share risk management information with the MDT and other professionals involved in clients care

To provide specialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to clients formulation, diagnosis and treatment plan.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential

• Doctoral level training in clinical/counselling psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS
• HCPC Registered

Desirable

• Pre-qualification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology.

Experience Essential

• Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and in patient settings.
• Experience of delivering CBT interventions in a mental health or addictions setting
• Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.

Desirable

• Experience of the application of clinical psychology in different cultural contexts.
• Experience of delivering psychodynamic and/or systemic interventions
• Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision.
