An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Functional Skills Tutor - Maths and English to join the Secure Care Division in a first-of-its-kind Life Rooms in Secure Care. The post will report to the Life Rooms Team Leader and Head of Rehabilitation and Recovery Services.

The successful candidate will have a teaching qualification and significant experience in Mental Health and/or Learning Disability practice.

Professional and operational supervision will be provided and the opportunity to engage in appropriate training to maintain CPD.

Interviews are planned for TBC.

Main duties of the job

1. To undertake specialised teaching and related educational duties. To work as part of a team delivering an education curriculum.

2. Identify the learning needs of patients, in line with individual care programmes. Plan and deliver educational courses for patients across the Hospital.

3. Develop awareness of the needs of the individual patients and strive at all times to facilitate meeting these needs.

4. Contribute to the holistic assessment of individual patient needs; devise educational programmes to meet these needs. Monitor, record and document the progress and programmes, to evidence the outcomes as identified by the principles of the CPA.

5. Assess specific learning needs of patients in their own specialist subject area.

6. To prepare patients for examinations and supervise patients at examinations.

7. To assesses and internally moderate all coursework for the purpose of such examinations.

8. To plan and prepare courses and lessons, in collaboration, as necessary, with other teachers.

9. Develop and implement teaching or accredited programmes for patients.

10. To keep abreast of developments and changes in respect of Rehabilitation and Educational trends.
