Would you like the opportunity to work as a Consultant Psychiatrist (CAMHS), Barnet Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust (BEH). The trust is looking to appoint an enthusiastic, skilled, dynamic and innovative Consultant Psychiatrist to join our well-established CAMHS Service situated in Edgware Community Hospital within the London Borough of Barnet. This is a full time substantive post.

This is an ideal opportunity for a driven Psychiatrist to complement our team of supportive and experienced CAMHS Clinician in improving the health and well-being of children, young people and families in Barnet. Main duties of the job

The team has a strong commitment to training and personal development, so the post holder will be expected to participate in the teaching and training of all professional groups within the CAMHS Service.

There is additional leadership and development opportunity as part of the NCL wide transformation work in the development of crisis pathways, ensuring the service we offer is at the fore front of evidence-based assessment and treatment. There is a new service for home treatment within the adolescent population and the postholder will have the opportunity to develop and support this new service together with the psychiatrist within the HTT.

The person appointed to the post will be encouraged to develop their own interests and pursue research interest in collaboration with the child and adolescent research unit based at University College London CAMHS research unit led by Professor Argyris Stringaris. The consultant will be encouraged to participate in various QI projects across both services and will also be encouraged to come up with new QI projects as appropriate. The consultant can also participate in teaching medical students and psychiatry trainees as well.

The trust is embarking on an ambitious transformation of services within CAMHS using the THRIVE principles and the candidate would be encouraged to develop and contribute towards these changes in order to deliver an effective and compassionate service to the young people living within Barnet Enfield and Haringey.

BEH and Camden and Islington foundation trust have now formed a comprehensive partnership to collaborate and work with in the North Central London integrated care board brackets (ICB) close brackets and the general practitioner (GP) to ensure that there is comprehensive transformation of care for the people living in the boroughs of Barnet Camden Enfield Haringey and Islington we are working with ICB and GP network to ensure that people living in the NCL sector are provided with effective compassionate and equitable care irrespective of their post code within the NCL sector.

BEH Mental Heath Trust understands the importance of resilient childhood and have embarked on a path to provide effective, personalised and compassionate care to young people living in the boroughs of Barnet, Enfield and Haringey. The trust has created a specific CAMHS division to focus on achieving this aim.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, skilled, approachable and motivated consultant to join the Barnet Enfield and Haringey CAMHS division to help in managing the care of young people living within the north central London and collaborative.

Job description Job responsibilities

  • The role of ensuring that clinical care provided to the service users is of a high quality and is provided within the Trusts policy framework.
  • The post holder will undertake the necessary clinical administrative duties associated with providing excellent patient care
  • The post holder will be an active member of the multidisciplinary team, and therefore attend multidisciplinary team meetings and provide advice and support to the team.
  • To support the further transformation of the service and lead on QI projects.
  • To ensure all cases are appropriately allocated to professionals within the expertise and skills available in the team.
  • To play a role in implementing children and young peoples IAPT.
  • To assess and treat children and families.
  • To actively engage in links with other parts of Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services, Primary Care Services, Social Services and other agencies relevant to the services.
  • To have primary responsibility for cases where they have direct face to face contact
  • To have shared responsibility for cases on which they collaborate or co-work with other professionals.
  • Ensure all cases receive an appropriate treatment modality within the existing resources.
  • To provide Supervision and clinical support to the junior psychiatric doctors.
  • To be available to other professionals when they need to discuss cases.
  • Manage an established caseload who are on medication.
  • Assess newly allocated cases and formulate appropriate treatment plans in collaboration with colleagues in other disciplines.
  • Complete relevant paperwork, including maintaining the electronic record and participating in routine outcome monitoring of clinical work.
  • Undertake other duties (as negotiated) which contribute to the good functioning of the clinical team.
  • Participate in the day-time psychiatry consultant second on call rota. Other clinicians provide the first on call rota.
  • Participate in the Tri-Borough out of hours consultant on call rota from 5pm-9am and at weekends.


Person Specification Qualifications & Experience Essential
  • Full Registration with the General Medical Council UK
  • On the General Medical Council Specialist Register or within six months of obtaining a CCT
  • Section 12(2) Approval under Mental Health Act and eligible to act as Responsible Clinician for detained patients or eligible
Desirable
  • Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent
Teaching and Training Essential
  • Experience in multi-disciplinary teaching
  • Negotiation skills

  • Qualification in Teaching
