An exciting opportunity has arisen for competent, confident and enthusiastic Occupational Therapists to join our team working with people presenting with complex needs as part the 'Durham & Darlington Occupational Therapy Hub' working in Adult mental health in Durham and Darlington across both inpatient and community settings.
This post is part of our recruitment drive to build the occupational therapy service in Durham and Darlington Adult Mental Health.
We are looking for a B6 Specialist OT or a B5 OT who feels they are ready to increase their level of responsibility.
With this being a development post, If employed at B5 level linked to experience and skills, the postholder will complete a structured development programme lasting approximately one year, and transfer to the B6 job description when all relevant competencies have been achieved and signed off.
The D&D OT Hub is a centralised service split across the 2 sites. The primary pick-up point for the team are the acute wards at Lanchester Road Hospital, Durham and West Park Hospital, Darlington.
The successful post holder will have the flexibility to choose their preferred option of working base out of the Teams two base sites listed above.

This post is a fantastic development opportunity for experienced Band 5 staff who feel ready to increase their level of added responsibility/challenge and existing Band 6 staff who wish to broaden their expert knowledge further.
This post is part of our recruitment drive to build the occupational therapy service in Durham and Darlington Adult Mental Health.
Overall the D&D OT Hub covers 90 acute beds with the option of post-discharge support for residents of Durham & Darlington therefore providing a seamless transition between inpatient stay and home-based recovery.
The post will offer varied opportunities for training and development, with CPD needs being identified and monitored through appraisal. Well defined supervision systems are in place.
You will access wider support from the occupational therapy network in Durham and Darlington in DDTV, to develop a way of delivering a high quality, needs-led OT service, utilising core occupational therapy skills to ensure all of the people we work with have a robust occupational therapy assessment and intervention plan in place.

The post holder will provide evidence-based occupational therapy assessment and interventions as part of the OT Pathway linked to Adult Mental Health across Durham and Darlington, and offer input to individuals, their families and carers.
All team members must be committed to providing the best possible care for the people we work with and their families/carers.
The ability to engage and communicate with service users as well as the parents/family/carers and system around them is essential.
Clinical/Professional supervision is provided by the supervising Occupational Therapist as identified by the relevant Lead OT. The postholder will attend OT Learning and Governance Networks to ensure fidelity to core occupational therapy delivery, enhance CPD and contribute to the wider OT service developments.
You must be able to demonstrate experience of delivery of occupational therapy, keenness to continually develop themselves and others, and a particular interest in this field of OT. We will support use of transferrable skills from a range of clinical settings.

- As an occupational therapist in TEWV you will be professionally and clinically accountable for your own caseload the complexity of which varies linked to banding/experience.
- You will assess occupational performance and deliver occupational interventions, demonstrating adherence to the Trust values at all times
- To be responsible for receiving requests for occupational therapy, triaging and prioritising these , completing evidence-based assessments and interventions to address key occupational areas of self care, productivity and leisure.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
- Degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent
- Registration with HCPC
- Clinical Supervisory Skills course (or willingness to undertake within agreed timescale).
- Trust training in Appraisal and Recruitment (or willingness to undertake within an agreed timescale)
- Numeracy, Literacy and ITQ level 2 (or equivalent)
- Accredited Practice Placement Educator
- Post-graduate qualification in a relevant area.
- Successful completion of preceptorship year as a graduate occupational therapist (or equivalent in non-NHS sectors)
- Significant experience in Occupational Therapy including experience working with service users in mental health or learning disabilities with complex needs.
- Experience of participation in quality improvement activities
