Nurse Manager - Band 7 Lyndon House

Full time, permanent role

Lyndon House is a Nurse led Children's respite service, supporting and caring for Children and young people who have a learning disability, with complex physical health needs or complex behaviours of concern. The role requires a compassionate and inclusive Nurse leader who has experience and an interest in CYP services.

The service aims to provide a safe and effective service for CYP and staff, whilst delivering care and support for the CYP and their carers, enabling them to remain within their own home, within their local support network.

The post holder will be responsible for providing clinical and operational leadership of registered nurses and non-registered staff, with a focus on career and personal development as well as contributing to the continuing review and development of the service to meet current and future priorities.

The post holder will work in conjunction with the Matron, a number of respite nurse managers and Community Lead Nurse to lead the provision of an efficient, effective, high quality, and well-co-ordinated service which meets all statutory, regulatory and NHS requirements, ensuring alignment with the contracted activities of the Trust and within a defined financial envelope.

Main duties of the job

To ensure that the service provides high quality care which is safe and well led for the people using them.

To provide supportive and visible operational leadership and hold direct line management responsibilities for the clinical team.

To manage and deliver a high quality, efficient and cost-effective service which are service user centred, and as safe as possible.

To help ensure services are delivered in line with CQC and OFSTED regulatory framework.

To help ensure service is delivered within allocated resources and budgets and deliver agreed national and local quality standards, key performance indicators and other agreed requirements.

To support the development and implementation of new and innovative ways of working.

To liaise with appropriate teams and departments to actively support the avoidance of unnecessary admission to hospital for people with a learning disability and/or autism.

To support staff to implement programmes of change and improve clinical care

To strengthen closer working arrangements with Community and Intensive Support Services.

To represent the service at appropriate meetings and promote the service philosophy.

To help to continually review and improve the quality, effectiveness and safety of care, in conjunction with the directorate Safety & Quality representatives seeking out and learning the lessons from complaints, compliments, investigations, reviews, reports and other information and intelligence.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • Professional nursing qualifications, Registered Nurse RNLD, Childrens or RNMH
  • Evidence of continuous post registration training
  • Evidence of managing / leading respite services
Knowledge and skills Essential
  • Knowledge and understanding of NHS national and local drivers
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Transforming Care programme
  • Leadership and supervisory management skills
  • Evidence of managing / leading respite services
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships
  • Understanding and knowledge of Clinical Governance and Clinical Supervision
Experience Essential
  • Significant operational management experience at Band 6 or above experience within NHS
  • Experience of implementing new and innovative ways of working.
  • Experience of managing, supervising and leading a team
  • Experience of working with different professional disciplines.
  • Experience of managing respite services
  • Experience of working in a Childrens healthcare service
Other Essential
  • Able to travel for work purposes and have access to an independent means of transport.
