This is a unique and exciting opportunity to provide senior clinical leadership and line management to a highly experienced, innovative and dynamic clinical team working with Adult Complex Needs in a Psychoanalitically orientated Department. We pride ourselves on a clinical culture of formulating rather than diagnosing psychological complexity, our services do not include or exclude on the basis of psychiatric diagnosis. The post-holder will be responsible for overseeing the clinical service supported closely by the Operations Manager, General Manager and Associate Director. We are a close team and work well together. The post holder will be expected to lead the service in close consultation with the wider Complex Mental Health leadership team as well as the two Team Managers and Consultants across the clinical service.

Main duties of the job

The post would suit someone with a strong interest and extensive experience in management of Mental Health services and in Adult Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. The role leads across the range of management tasks including clinical strategy, liaison with external partners and ICB allies, managing complaints and overseeing the efficiency and focus on internal systems (e.g. intake) .

About us

You will be expect to provide as well as delegate some clinical and line management supervision. The post is primarily linked to management of the clincial service but three sessions are clinical and we believe this is critically important for the post holder to be in touch and aware of the service offer and to be grounded in the clinical reality of our work.

Person Specification Qualification Training Education Essential
  • UK recognised Doctoral level training in clinical or counselling Psychology or equivalent post graduate training and qualification in Nursing, Social Work or other recognised Mental Health discipline.
  • Registered with the HCPC or other recognised professional body as relevant to the discipline.
  • BPC recognised Psychoanalytic or Psychodynamic Training.
Desirable
  • Significant experience in managing and assessing risk, suitability for psychotherapeutic interventions and appropriateness of a range of possible interventions including group and individual psychotherapy.
  • Training and / or equivalent knowledge in a specialist psychotherapeutic area of adult mental health .
  • Training in therapeutic interventions for psychological trauma
Previous Experience Essential
  • Experience of clinical oversight and supervision of high risk and complex cases with potentials safeguarding concerns
  • Extensive experience of providing specialist psychological assessment and treatment of adults with a range of psychological issues.
  • Extensive experience of providing clinical supervision and consultation to staff from a range of professional backgrounds managing high risk caseloads
  • Extensive experience of working in psychotherapeutic services with adults who have been exposed to trauma.
  • Extensive experience of therapeutic intervention and risk management with complex needs where there are safeguarding concerns and multiagency involvement.
  • Experience of working Psychotherapeutically in groups, couples or within organisational consultancy
Desirable
  • A Management qualification (MBA or equivalent)
  • Further specialist training in Individual or group Analysis.
  • nvolvement in and understanding of community 'Core' Mental Health Services including 3rd sector partnership
