We are seeking a Nurse to work in Facing the Challenge, a service for children and young people with learning disabilities and complex presentations associated with challenging behaviour that sits within the Mental Health & Learning Disability Delivery Unit of Swansea Bay University Health Board (SBUHB).
Facing The Challenge (FTC) is a small service that covers the areas of Swansea and Neath Port Talbot (NPT), and interfaces with children's services across this patch. The service is made up of Behaviour Specialists, community nurses and Assistant Behaviour Specialists. The successful candidate would be working with young people who display challenging behaviour within their own homes, school and in the community.
The post holder would be expected to have experience in this field and have a solid understanding of Positive Behavioural Support. This post holder will be expected to provide high standard assessment, formulation and intervention to this client group. The post holder will hold a clinical caseload and will be expected to provide a variety of interventions for children and young people on an individual or group basis in a community setting.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will hold a clinical caseload and will be expected to provide a variety of interventions for children and young people on an individual or group basis in a community setting.
The post-holder will be expected to;
Undertake behavioural assessments of children and young people as devised by the nursing process and PBS process with the aim to provide a functional analysis and PBS plan for families and agencies.
Work independently within healthcare, education and community settings.
Have continuing responsibility for an allocated caseload including the assessment of care needs, and the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care, in partnership with client and carers/families as well as delivering group work.
Be responsible for their own continued professional development and seek opportunities to further their own knowledge and skills.
Responsibility for developing agreed plans of care for junior staff to follow/implement and ensure that their clinical practice meets expected standards though supervision and evaluation
Provide and lead parent groups analysing children and young people's behaviour.
Provide clinical supervision to junior staff
In the circumstances that senior staff are not available, you will be required to take clinical leadership within this time frame acting as senior staff.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
