This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of the Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) Service working as a Community Team Manager, based in the Kings Lynn (West Norfolk). The EIP Service look after people in the Norfolk and Waveney area experiencing a first episode of psychosis. The service works with people for up to 3 years.The caseloads are limited to around 15 service users per full time member of staff, although this can vary depending on demand and capacity.

This service uses an across Norfolk and Waveney model is made up of four teams, with bases in Norwich (North and South teams), Great Yarmouth and Waveney (East team) and King's Lynn (West team). this means there are strong links between the teams across the county.

Main duties of the job

The Community Team Manager will collaborate with key partners and stakeholders across health, social care and other sectors to support service development participating in various NHS East of England EIP Clinical Network activities, ensuring that key performance targets and national standards are met.

This is an opportunity to develop and work within a specialist multi-disciplinary setting, which will offer a wide range of MDT clinical assessments and treatments, specific specialist EIP therapeutic individual and group interventions. We promote a strong service user led participation culture as well as supporting partners and families.

The successful candidate will support individual staff with developing their performance in their clinical work, as well as supporting with safeguarding and quality assurance. This post requires a dynamic individual with excellent leadership skills to work innovatively and confidently.

Job responsibilities

  • To provide daily leadership to the team and ensure the provision of high quality.
  • To ensure high quality individualised person centre standards of care are delivered to all patients.
  • Ensure the effective supervision and development of staff.
  • To lead promoting respect and advocacy for all service users.
  • To be an active participant in the multidisciplinary team, formulating care plans and utilising appropriate assessments.
  • Liaise effectively with MDT to assess and manage risks identified through assessment of patients.
  • To regularly review risk factors and work in conjunction with the MDT to modify care plans as appropriate.
  • To ensure that clinical practice is evidenced based and consistent with relevant NICE guidelines and the organisations policies and procedures.
  • To undertake management supervision to further develop competence and clinical practice.
  • To liaise effectively with all stakeholders in the care process, including carers and relatives, aspiring to provide an effective, seamless and integrated service to our service users.
  • Lead and manage allocated resources effectively through efficient resource allocation, skill mixes, and utilisation of equipment and authorisation of bank/agency staff as designated by senior management team.
  • Participating in clinical audit, clinical risk and quality issues, including the management and reporting of incidents.
  • Deputise for the service manager as and when required.


Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
  • Nursing degree or equivalent, Dip SW or Dip OT or equivalent, or HCPC registered

Desirable
  • Ongoing professional development working towards degree level
  • Higher degree or post graduate certificate in area of clinical / therapeutic practice
  • Post basic teaching qualification
  • ILM certificate in management or equivalent

Experience
Essential
  • Able to demonstrate experience at a senior clinical level including staff management/supervision experience
  • Experience of working within a multi disciplinary team
  • Evidence of providing leadership in a Mental Health care environment including service development
  • Experience with risk assessment and ongoing management
  • Mentoring Experience

Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust is the main provider of specialist mental health services for the counties of Norfolk and Suffolk, serving a population of 1.6 million people.
