CAVUHB School In-Reach team are looking for a Mental Health Practitioner (High Intensity Psychological Therapist) to join them. School In-reach is a relatively new team of mental health practitioners with different professional backgrounds, who are working together with schools to support the psychological wellbeing and resilience of young people. They are doing this through consultation with school staff, support and advice, teaching and direct clinical work.
The team is led by a Clinical Lead (Clinical Psychologist) and Team Lead who oversee four localities providing support across Cardiff and Vale, including to specialist education providers. Senior Mental Health Practitioners from a range of professional backgrounds provide oversight to the schools in their area, supported by Mental Health Practitioners and Graduate Mental Health Workers.

The team receive regular supervision, reflective practice, formulation conversations and away days for learning together opportunities. Building, maintaining and growing relationships is key to the team. Emphasis will be placed on working alongside and in partnership with the local authority schools and other health systems, along with third sector agencies and communities.
Main duties of the job
To support provision of specialist consultation, advice and guidance to primary and secondary education providers
To develop and deliver training for education providers (online and in-person)
To provide assessment of the emotional health and wellbeing needs of children and young people
To provide direct therapeutic intervention to children and young people (group delivery and one-to-one)
To supervise and provide line management for Graduate Mental Health Workers within the team
To contribute to service evaluation and development, including participation in audit and research tasks as they arise across the service.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
- Meets criteria set out by Centre for Workforce Intelligence as a Psychological Therapist:
- To have completed one year of recognised full-time (or equivalent part-time) psychotherapy or counselling training, leading to a qualification, certification or accreditation recognised by a relevant professional or regulatory body e.g. UKCP, BABCP, BACP.
- To have achieved a competency level that fulfils the requirements of the regulatory, accrediting or professional body.
- To be a member of a relevant professional or regulatory body, and continue to fulfil any of its accreditation or membership criteria.
- To have gained the supervised therapy experience required by the regulatory or professional body encompassing assessment, formulation, engagement, developing the therapeutic relationship, using relevant therapeutic interventions, working collaboratively with clients, and working to end therapy. Or, Counsellor accredited with BACP with 450 supervised hours minimum. Further training, developed competencies and supervised practice for condition-specific therapy delivery as designated in Matrics Cymru.
- Mental Health professional background.
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline, e.g. Psychology
- Post-qualification training in high intensity interventions for condition-specific, evidence-based psychological therapy delivery.
- Has worked as a counsellor or psychological therapist with clients with a range of mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
- To demonstrate experience of psychological therapy services within the NHS or in the private or voluntary sectors
- On-going supervision of therapeutic work.
- Experience in working in a relevant NHS context and working well with teams.
- To have experience of collecting audit data relevant to counselling/psychological therapy.
- Experience of working with brief, focused counselling interventions and/or evidence based psychological interventions under appropriate supervision.
- Up to date knowledge of the therapeutic approach to be practised.
- Awareness of other therapeutic approaches.
- Confirmed competencies in working constructively with clients and with colleagues.
- Able to attend to personal issues evoked in therapeutic work and to use them constructively.
- Skills in use of audit, evaluation and outcome measures.
- Ability to speak Welsh/other languages and willingness to use this/these where relevant in the work environment.
- Able to get on well with people
