An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Psychological Therapist/Applied Psychologist to join our busy Easington South Community Mental Health Team. The post holder will provide governed psychological interventions, complying with the principles of recovery focused work and trauma informed care. We would welcome applications from clinicians who have experience and training governed therapies including CBT, EMDR, or CAT, there is potential to access further training to develop trauma therapy skills.

This is a great opportunity to join a supportive, friendly, and well-established psychology team and community mental health team.

You will need to have significant experience of working with people with a range of complex mental health presentations in a health care setting, delivering clinical interventions specific to care pathways. You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

You will be supported with regular management and clinical supervision. We use daily Huddles, Daily Decision meetings and Complex Case discussions to ensure our staff are fully supported by colleagues and Leadership Team. We further hold a weekly psychology team meeting as part of coordinating psychology provision within the team, which includes discussion of referrals and assessments. On the whole, we are very friendly and work well in collaboration with each other.

Main duties of the job

Carries a caseload of lead professional cases and co-work cases with care coordinators, providing governed psychological therapy in line with therapeutic qualifications. There is potential scope to train in trauma-based therapy, primarily EMDR, should this be agreed.Provides specialist psychological assessment of clients with severe mental health conditions based on the appropriate use, interpretation, and integration of data from a variety of sources to establish suitability for a particular psychological therapy and recommending alternative treatment or interventions as appropriate.Responsible for recognising the potential for or signs of client harm, abuse or neglect, including poor clinical practice, reporting all such concerns and taking all reasonable steps to protect the client. Responsible for identifying and reporting concerns regarding the safeguarding of others who may be at risk.Undertakes risk assessment and risk management for clients.Formulates plans for specialist psychological therapy in own field based on an appropriate conceptual framework and evidence-based practice. Collaborates on the development and the implementation of such plans with clients and significant othersas appropriate, and adjusting and refining psychological formulations as required.Provide specialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other staff contributing directly to clients' formulation and intervention plan, within sphere of owncompetence.

  • RMN or equivalent mental health core qualification at degree level post 1993 & post graduate training to an accredited level in one of the Trust's Governed Psychological Therapies sufficient to meet the Trust's training standards for that therapy.
  • HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
