We have an excellent opportunity for a Resident Medical Officer (RMO) at Cygnet Hospital Blackheath and Cygnet Lodge Lewisham

You'll be covering out of hours on call (5pm - 9am), working 3 days one week, and 4 days the next with access to Consultant advice

Main duties of the job

Cygnet Hospital Blackheath provides inpatient low secure and PICU services for men with a mental health illness.

We accept urgent admissions from all over the country for people in acute psychiatric distress and can assess and transfer urgent prison referrals swiftly. We also provide an intensive programme of recovery in our low secure mental health ward, developing a personal therapeutic timetable to meet the needs of service users whatever their stage of recovery.

Cygnet Lodge Lewisham is a specialist high dependency inpatient rehabilitation service for men. Situated in a quiet residential area overlooking a beautiful Lewisham Park, we support 17 men in a homely, open and community facing environment. Our focus is on pre-discharge planning for individuals who may have been in hospital for an extended period of time or are preparing for community life but need further support to move to more independent living. We are able to support individuals who have a range of mental health difficulties.

As Resident Medical Officer, you'll play a crucial role providing on call cover for Cygnet Hospital Blackheath and Cygnet Lodge Lewisham.

Based in South East London, Cygnet Hospital Blackheath provides inpatient low secure and PICU services for men with a mental health illness.Cygnet Lodge Lewisham is a specialist high dependency inpatient rehabilitation service for men.

You'll be covering out of hours on call (5pm - 9am), working 3 days one week, and 4 days the next with access to Consultant advice

On calls are completed from home but the post holder would be required to come into the service as needed, so the ability to travel is essential

We are looking for someone who is...
  • Fully GMC registered & MBBS (or equivalent) qualified
  • An excellent clinical decision maker, with sound judgement, the ability to manage risk & know when to ask for help
  • Preferably experienced in Psychiatry
  • Able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • A first-rate communicator who can interview, assess & treat patients & write clear, comprehensive medical notes
  • Committed to continued professional development
