Main duties of the job

As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will work as an autonomous clinician, providing specialist assessment and treatment of occupational dysfunction.

You will hold supervisory responsibility for others and take a leadership role in specific projects. An integral part of this role will be supporting student education within the team.

Specialist OT Cygnet Bury Dunes Hospital

Service Line

Mental Health Adult Acute and PICU

Summary:

Cygnet Bury Dunes Hospital has provision in two service lines:
  • PICU & Acute care
  • Mental Health Forensic Low Secure Services (covering Female patients, Deaf patients and Older Age Male patients)

Clinical: You would be responsible for the assessment and treatment of occupational dysfunction for up to 18 service users on our Acute Unit called The Whitehouse. You will work with a full multidisciplinary team in a coordinated way to support each service user develop their skills and move through our clinical model of care from admission to discharge. You will have two activity coordinators to support interventions with your caseload.

Leadership: You would report directly to the Head Occupational Therapist for the Dunes Hospital within Cygnet Bury. You would also hold clinical leadership responsibility for the Occupational Therapy provision for the PICU ward as well as the acute service through provision of clinical and managerial supervision for a Band 5 Occupational Therapist and an OT Assistant. You may also be required at times to deputise for the Head Occupational Therapist for the Dunes Services.

Our services are therapy and recovery focused, providing assessment, treatment and rehabilitation. The aim is to effectively progress service users though the Acute Services care pathway, into the least restrictive environment possible. We aim to support as short an inpatient hospital stay, as possible for each individual, while working to reduce the possibility of readmission back into hospital care after discharge.

Occupational Therapy Directorate

Under the leadership of our Occupational Therapy Directors we support over 150 Occupational Therapists. Working together as a large team we provide support to each other across the group, with the opportunity to be part of specialist interest groups & become involved in service development.

Every service line has a clinical lead occupational therapist to lead and develop evidence based practice and agreed occupational therapy pathway.

We ensure our occupational therapists have a voice through participating in service development, utilising the expertise and support of our clinical lead occupational therapists.

Requirements
