During Covid Dan y Deri Learning Disability service was serving as a single point of admission and now it is in an excitingposition to re-open as an in-patient Learning disability service. We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic Band 5 Registered Learning Disability Nurses to work within Dan y Deriwho closely work with the Llwyneryr in-patient services, providing specialist care for people with learning disabilities, we are part of Swansea Bay University Health Board's Mental Health and Learning Disability Delivery Unit.

The successful candidate will be required to work as part of a seven-day service, which includes weekend, nights and bank holidays.

Dan y Deri offers a dynamic and challenging work environment, supporting adults with Learning Disabilities who present with behaviours which can challenge. We aim to provide a high quality, person centered approach based on the Positive Behaviour Support model.

The post is open to all nurses currently holding registration with the NMC, including newly qualified staff nurses. We offer a supportive preceptorship program for all newly qualified nurses.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide specialist nursing care to people with learning disabilities who require in-patient services. They will promote equality for all service users through anti discriminatory practice, supporting individuals' rights, choices, beliefs and identity and by supporting individuals through effective communication. The post holder will assess, plan, implement and evaluate care through the principles of Positive Behavioural Support.

Qualifications Essential
  • RNLD/MH/EN
  • Be in possession of an up to date P.I.N as allocated by the NMC.
  • Commitment to NMC guidance in relation to PREP, evidence of up to date portfolio.


SKILLS & ABILITIES Essential
  • Knowledge and experience of challenging behaviour.
  • Understanding of the principles of positive behavioural support and a commitment to the principles of the All Wales Strategy.
  • Is able to communicate effectively in both oral and written skills.
  • Is able to demonstrate good interpersonal skills.
  • Is well-organised and able to manage their workload and time effectively to meet service targets.
