We are currently looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Community Mental Health Practitioner to join the National Deaf ServiceCommunity team offering specialist treatment and support for deaf service users diagnosed with severe and enduring mental illness.

The applicant must hold excellent communication skills, be proficient in BSL Level 2, be enthusiastic in their approach and demonstrate an understanding of the complexities involved in this specialist area of mental health.

We welcome applicants who are also Deaf or Hard of Hearing. The applicant must be a qualified mental health practitioner RMN, RNLD, OT, SW and have significant experience of working within ahealth/social care setting, and it is desirable that you have experience or knowledge of working within Deaf Mental Health Care.

The post holder will take responsibility for an identified caseload and provide outreach and community follow up to support service users through their recovery.

You will need to demonstrate a commitment to achieving the highest standards of care whilst displaying your ability to work autonomously as well as being an effective member of the multi-disciplinary team.

You must be able to demonstrate competent risk assessment and risk management skills and have a genuine interest in working with service users with severe and enduring mental health issues, and their carers'.

The post holder:Will act as an independent practitioner within a defined community setting, while liaising with other professionals as necessary.

Will manage a defined caseload and provide supervision to others as appropriate. Will be responsible for the assessment planning implementation and evaluation of nursing care within agreed parameters, and have a working knowledge of local, national policies and legislation, which govern current service provision and audit.Will be responsible for ensuring effective communication pathways exist.Will be responsible for ensuring the promotion of equality diversity and rights in accordance with good practice and legislation.Will be responsible for identifying and contributing to the training needs necessary in providing quality evidence based care as appropriate.
