We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate senior Clinical / Practitioner Psychologist to lead our psychology provision into the Gwent Regional My Support Team (MyST) Programme. MyST is an innovative Gwent-wide regional mental health service for children and young people who are looked after and have complex mental health and social needs. Our focus is to enable children and young people and their adult networks to develop and succeed through a range of direct psychological work and a whole systems approach to care. MyST works to provide an intensive supported family and community-based alternative to tier four care provision for children and young people up to the age of 21. MyST also works with Local Authority children's homes in Caerphilly to provide the best possible quality of residential care. The MyST Regional Programme works across a partnership of the five Local Authority areas of Gwent and Aneurin Bevan University Health Board.

Main duties of the job

The Consultant Clinical / Practitioner Psychologist for MyST will lead the psychology service provision into the Regional Programme. This involves leading on the strategic development of this psychology service for children who are looked after and have complex mental health needs. The post holder will lead and manage our four established 8B Clinical Psychologists and a further two new psychology posts. Our role is to enable our multidisciplinary MyST team colleagues to provide the best possible quality of psychological work to our service users. Our Psychologists do this by providing psychological assessment, formulation, clinical intervention planning, direct therapeutic work with children and families, consultation, clinical supervision, reflective practice, training, audit and research into the MyST Regional Programme.

The post holder will be a valued member of the Gwent Child & Family Psychology & Therapies Service, which is a thriving and supportive team with a wide variety of psychological service strands and specialisms. Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • Registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a qualified Clinical/Practitioner Psychologist.
  • Honours degree in Psychology, giving eligibility for Graduate membership of the British Psychological Society (BPS).
  • Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, or equivalent accredited by the BPS, giving eligibility for full membership of the Division of Clinical Psychology of the British Psychological Society
Desirable
  • Training in clinical supervision.
  • Training in the leadership or management of Clinical Psychology or other health services.
  • Post graduate research degree
Experience Essential
  • Significant post qualification clinical experience within Child and Family Psychology.
  • Has maintained a programme of significant Continuing Professional Development relevant to the provision of Child and Family Psychology.
  • Has developed an advanced level of expertise in at least one area of clinical practice or service delivery relevant to the work of MyST.
  • Demonstrates evidence of a mature clinical/theoretical framework that guides practice.
Desirable
  • Clinical expertise in area of looked after children.
  • Management, leadership and strategic development of Clinical Psychology services.
  • Research experience and statistical expertise.
  • Supervision of Clinical Psychologists, Trainee Clinical Psychologists, and other professional
