We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic HCPC registered Practitioner Psychologist to join Adult Mental Health Psychology in the Local Primary Mental Health Support Service (LPMHSS) . The post holder will be expected to provide a high quality psychology service to the LPMHSS service across Swansea & Neath Port Talbot.
You will receive regular supervision from a Consultant Psychologist (with a BABCP accredited supervisor if desired), and you will join a supportive psychology department with access to specialty meetings and will be encouraged to develop a broad range of skills. There are strong teaching and placement links with the clinical and counselling psychology courses in South Wales and the South West of England.
The post will be based in the City of Swansea affording access tothe opportunitiesthat city life offers as well as to areas of outstanding beauty in the Gower, and Brecon Beacons thereby allowing for a wide variety of extra-curricular activities to suit most tastes.
The role is available to start as soon as possible.
The established banding for this post is 8A, however we will consider appointing newly qualified candidates at Band 7 under a preceptorship arrangement with a development plan to support them to reach full criteria for the 8A post within 2 years. We will also consider appointment as a trainee psychologist (Band 6) for candidates who have completed their qualification but are awaiting exam boards or HCPC registration.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will carry a complex clinical caseload and provide a specialist psychological assessment, formulation and intervention service to adults and families living with mental health difficulties in Swansea and Neath Port Talbot. They would be expected to provide leadership in psychological knowledge and skills, work well with MDT colleagues and be adept at working through others using skills in teaching, case consultation, supervision and team formulation. Attendance at MDT meetings would be essential and supervision of trainee and assistant psychologists and psychology masters students expected. Experience in using a range of psychometric and interview based psychological assessments is required. Service development is another core component of these posts.
