We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and dynamic Occupational Therapist to join us in Swansea Bay University Health Board.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapist to join our Older Person's Mental Health inpatient service based at Cefn Coed hospital, Swansea. This post is particularly suited to a motivated and skilled Occupational Therapist who is competent in providing compassionate and person-centred care to service users.

The post holder will provide specialist assessments and therapeutic interventions to patients with complex organic and functional mental health conditions, supporting individuals on the ward environment, facilitating their safe hospital discharges and follow up support within their own home environment as appropriate.

Main duties of the job

Occupational Therapist

You will be required to work closely with MDT colleagues and contribute to the development of a high-quality, evidence-based occupational therapy service. You will have an opportunity to help shape and promote the service, providing you with a unique opportunity to engage in service development and change.

Alongside the clinical duties, the Band 6 OT provides advice, support and consultation to the wider MDT and provides formal and informal supervision to the band 5 Occupational Therapist and OT support worker staff within the team.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • Degree in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent OT qualification)
  • Professional Registration with HCPC
Desirable
  • Accredited fieldwork supervisor for the education of OT students
Experience & Knowledge Essential
  • Experience of autonomous caseload management, comprising assessment, planning intervention and evaluation within relevant clinical area
  • Understanding of the Occupational Therapy process within Older Person's Mental Health.
  • Knowledge of the principles of Clinical Governance
  • Broad knowledge of current best practice in Occupational Therapy with designated client group
  • Experience of research and/ or audit and implementing evidence based practice
  • Previous experience of supervising staff
