We have an exciting opportunity to be able to recruit to a new pharmacist post to join our mental health pharmacy team . We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated pharmacist to continue the expansion of pharmacist support to the mental health division.
We are looking for an experienced pharmacist passionate about developing new ways of working to participate in the further development of mental health pharmacy services in Aneurin Bevan Health Board.
Your base will be Nevill Hall Hospital but will spend time every week on various mental health wards across the health board.
Our pharmacists play an integral role as members of the multi-disciplinary team by ensuring medicines are prescribed and used in a way that is evidence based, safe and cost effective to the benefit of our patients. This post will suit a pharmacist wishing to join a welcoming working environment with a desire to further improve on their current clinical knowledge and skills. The successful candidate will be expected to influence prescribing, support safe and effective use of medicines and continue to integrate pharmacy into the wider multidisciplinary team.
We will provide the necessary support to ensure your development within your role.

Main duties of the job
- To be responsible for leading and delivering a specialist clinical pharmacy service to patients, medical and nursing staff and other healthcare professionals in accordance with legal and professional requirements and standards.
- To provide ward-based service to specialist clinical area including regular participation in multidisciplinary ward rounds.
- To act as Adult Mental Health Directorate Pharmacist, provide expert specialist pharmaceutical advice and reports on medicines expenditure within the Directorate.
- To provide professional/clinical cover for the dispensary services.
- To deputise and support the lead pharmacists within the Pharmacy Department NHH when required.
- To provide training and education that meets the statutory, professional and regulatory requirements of post-graduate diploma pharmacists, pre-registration pharmacists, other pharmacists, and technicians.
- Participation in weekend and on-call rotas.
