Opportunity for a Band 7 or 8a Applied Psychologist, depending on experience

This is an exciting opportunity for an applied psychologist to develop their clinical and forensic skills and expertise further. We are seeking to recruit one part time qualified psychologist (0.6 WTE x Band 7 or 8a) at Taith Newydd (Low Secure Unit), a 28 bedded adult male unit based in Bridgend. The service forms part of the Rehabilitation and Recovery Service within Swansea Bay University Healthboard (SBU HB).

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide a range of psychological assessments and evidence based interventions, for clients with complex psychological needs to aid them in their recovery and reduce risk. The role will also involve offering advice and consultation on client psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues, as well as to other non-professional carers and workers of other agencies where appropriate. The post holder will be an active member of the Low Secure Service Group by contributing to service evaluation, audit and training, in addition to the clinical supervision of assistant and trainee psychologists.

The health board actively encourages and supports research and Continuing Professional Development (CPD). The post holder will have access to regular clinical supervision, reflective practice and a training package (to be jointly agreed upon following commencement of the position). We have strong links with local local MSc and doctoral training courses. There are other posts currently being advertised within the service (e.g. prison inreach or AIRR project) which could be combined with this post as a split post across the service
