Hywel Dda University Health Board has a new, exciting opportunity for a motivated, driven, and passionate Specialist Physiotherapist based in Llanelli. This is a permanent position within the Elective Orthopaedic & Surgical Inpatient Physiotherapy Team.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who has proven clinical skills in the field of Orthopaedics & General Surgery. The post holder will work as part of our expanding Physiotherapy Team providing timely rehabilitation and patient-centred care for patients undergoing elective procedures.

Hywel Dda is situated within a beautiful part of West Wales with award winning beaches and National Parks. Why not make a positive professional move and live in a place that other people only get to visit on holidays. If you feel that you have a good understanding of rehabilitation, excellent team working skills and understand how to get the very best outcomes for your patients, we would be excited to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will work within the surgical pathways, encompassing both inpatient ITU and ward rehabilitation and patient management within the Day Surgical Unit. The post holder will formulate and deliver individualised physiotherapy treatment programmes, providing information and guidance to those undergoing Orthopaedic and general surgery interventions both pre and post-operatively, and progress patients to obtain a safe discharge home. Clinical decisions will be determined using a sound knowledge of evidence-based practice, comprehensive clinical assessment and enhanced reasoning skills.

To ensure that our patients have the most appropriate access to rehabilitation, this role will be incorporated into the development of a 7-day service. We currently manage patients along the surgical pathway, encompassing both orthopaedic and post-operative colorectal surgery. Future expansion of our team plans to encompass the recently developed Pre-hab service, focusing on optimising patients prior to surgery, together with the development of an outreach rehabilitation service.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
