Are you a qualified non-medical prescriber registered? Are you looking for a challenge and do you want to make a difference to the service users that we care for?

The Mental Health Liaison Team are looking to recruit compassionate, dedicated, and conscientious individuals who want to make a positive difference to adults experiencing mental distress and mental health crisis. This will involve assessing patients within emergency department and short stay medical assessment unit.

We will require someone to clinical function within our team as a Senior Mental Health Practitioner with the added responsibility of being able to prescribe medication.

This role is to work crisis support pathway based at Ipswich Hospital.

Main duties of the job

You will work within a multidisciplinary team providing care, treatment, and assessment to patients who are current inpatients in Ipswich Hospital or those who have attended the emergency department.

You will b able to assess and prescribe treatments under medical supervision and adhere to the NICE Guidelines and Trust Policies. Within this role they will also will be able to advise other professionals and individuals, carers and relatives on mental health medications.

Assessment of mental state and cognitive impairment of patients in assessment departments within the hospital, or admitted to a wardo Offer specialist knowledge, skills and experienceo Support with complex discharge planningo Improving response to and management of referralso Improving knowledge and understanding of mental health issues within the hospital and proactively exploring and developingpartnerships and pathways to improve patient prognosis and outcomeso Supervision of colleagueso Advanced clinical practise and specialist clinical skills, providing expertiseo To support the leadership of the service, influence, lead and motivate staff in the teamo To support the team and the wider hospitals training and education development needso To engage in Trust leadership forumso Contribute to positive interfacing with staff across Trust and external services.

Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust is the main provider of specialist mental health services for the counties of Norfolk and Suffolk, serving a population of 1.6 million people.
