An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and confident Band 5 Occupational Therapist, who has a passion for working with people with learning disabilities, to join the community learning disability team (CLDT) in Leeds. You will work alongside a senior OT and multi-disciplinary team in the ENE CLDT and be part of a wider occupational therapy service who work across the city of Leeds.
As an occupational therapist in LYPFT you will work as a member of a multi-disciplinary CLDT, offering a comprehensive service to service users who require specialist health interventions. You will utilise your core occupational therapy skills in providing occupational therapy treatment as appropriate for CLDT.

To contribute to the service development of the city-wide Occupational Therapy Service.

- To carry responsibility for your own clinical caseload and be responsible for OT assessment and treatment to service users with a learning disability whose needs require specialised OT provision.
- To have an understanding of the health needs in relation to occupational performance of a learning disability population and the experience of applying the acquired skills and knowledge to support Service Users in a health setting.
- To participate in clinical/professional and management supervision
- To use the Trust electronic patient record system
- To abide by all Trust policies and procedures
- To work closely with other professionals and teams within the learning disability service and other external services

Job responsibilities
- To identify and prioritise on Occupational Therapy issues in conjunction with Band 6 OT and operational team.
- To be responsible and accountable for planning and organising work diary balancing clinical responsibilities, appointments, MDT responsibilities and service development opportunities.
- To use evidence based practice in planning, providing, evaluating a therapeutic group and activity programmes as appropriate to the needs of the team and service user group.
- To provide high quality OT practice within the clinical setting and to establish excellent working relationships with OT colleagues in community and inpatients settings which may include the implementation of OT colleagues care plans.
- To offer a range of comprehensive standardised and none-standardised OT assessments and plan and implement care and treatment as appropriate, making use of validated rating scales/outcome measures, risk and assessment protocols.
- To provide clinical supervision of therapy assistants and students to maintain safe standards of practice as regards to the implementation of OT care plans.
- To provide advice, support and information to service users, carers and staff around OT issues.
- To demonstrate autonomous decision making with an awareness of when to seek support from clinical supervisor or MDT member as appropriate.
