An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Specialist Addiction Team (LYPFT) in Forward Leeds for a position that has two distinct roles; Non-Medical Prescriber / Clinical team manager. The post holder will support the Community Alcohol Team, providing leadership and supervision to 2 NMP's and community support worker.

Forward Leeds is a partnership organisation, with an 'Outstanding' CQC rating, which is made up of four partners, with LYPFT providing the specialist input and interventions, including DBT, CBT, MI, SBNT and CBCS. The team is made up of Addiction Psychiatrists, Clinical Psychologists, CBT therapists, Mental health and General nurses, OT's, Social workers, Midwives and support workers who work from various sites across Leeds. They will work closely with all areas of the Forward Leeds partnership, ensuring that service users are provided with evidence-based treatment, specialist psychosocial and pharmacological interventions.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will run prescribing clinics across 3 sites in Leeds for people experiencing addiction and co-occurring mental health problems; prescribing a range of addiction pharmacotherapies. There will be no direct case management, but the post holder will work collaboratively with the case manager, the wider MDT and service users in making decisions relating to treatment plans.
To offer clinical supervision to junior staff and line management supervision to the Community Alcohol Team. The posts holder will also be provided with excellent supervision and support in terms of career development and learning.
The post holder will deliver specialist psychosocial interventions to people experiencing addiction problems and co-occurring mental health and other complex needs.
To be involved in service development and staff training.
They will represent the service at various meetings and forums within LYPFT, Forward Leeds, as well as at external events.

Job responsibilities

  • Provide advanced advice & consultation, case management support, clinical leadership, supervision, teaching and Specialist Psychosocial Intervention (SPSI) for service users with co-occurring substance misuse and complex mental health needs within the Specialist Addiction Service.
  • Be an experienced, registered mental health practitioner who has completed relevant post-graduate training or equivalent to extend their scope of practice regarding consultation, assessment, diagnosis and therapeutic interventions.
  • Provide direct and indirect clinical intervention to service users with complex mental health and additional substance misuse needs who may also present with co-morbid complex psychological and physical health needs.
  • Act both autonomously and in conjunction with the wider Multidisciplinary Team in assessing, diagnosing, planning and implementing care plans; whilst maintaining associated healthcare records.
  • Demonstrate advanced clinical competence in formulation
  • Have Specialist Psychosocial Intervention skills requiring SPSI supervision needs
  • To be a non-medical prescriber within addictions specialism
  • Provide support and supervision to a team of junior staff and provide specialist advice relevant to their clinical practice and expertise.
  • Be responsible for delivering relevant substance misuse and associated training to team members.
  • Provide clinical advice and leadership appropriate to their professional background and provide profession specific advice and leadership to the wider team.
  • Undertake research and service evaluation and lead on clinical audits relevant to their field of specialist practice


Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
  • RMN or equivalent professional qualification. Post graduate qualification in Addiction studies or equivalent.
  • Non-medical prescribing qualification.
  • Qualification or relevant experience in delivering psychosocial or psychological interventions. Experience in delivering manualised therapies.

Experience
Essential
  • Experience of working with clients with substance and cooccurring mental health problems and is able to demonstrate an understanding of the complexities of working with people with substance misuse and co existing mental health problems.
  • Be able to demonstrate effective working partnerships within a multi-disciplinary team, to achieve an integrated, effective and efficient service.
