An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board Occupational Therapy Service. We are looking to appoint an experienced occupational therapist with a range of occupationally focussed assessment and intervention skills to take up this post that will support people with managing their long-term respiratory conditions. The post involves providing Occupational Therapy assessment and supporting to people attending the pulmonary rehab programmes, along with stand-alone community referrals for people outside the programmes, where appropriate.
The post holder will be allocated a base within the ABUHB footprint, with the opportunities support agile where appropriate. The successful candidate will be expected to travel to see people in other communities/localities across ABUHB (Aneurin Bevan University Health Board). In line with Clinical Futures the service supports and engages with a wide range of community and third sector services to ensure a 'care closer to home' approach.
Main duties of the job
Some postgraduate experience of working with people with a respiratory condition is essential as is the ability to work flexibly and proactively to deliver a prompt and clinically effective service. You should be a creative problem solver and demonstrate a willingness to develop and pilot new ideas. You will possess good organisational skills related to yourself and supporting the workload management of the team.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
- Degree or Postgraduate Diploma in Occupational Therapy
- HCPC Registration
- Up-to-date professional portfolio
- Post-graduate experience of working in a pulmonary rehabilitation setting
- Supervision experience of junior staff and/or students
- Experience of working autonomously and setting own priorities
Knowledge and Understanding Essential
- Specialist knowledge and application of OT assessments and interventions relevant to intervention with people with pulmonary conditions
- Detailed knowledge and application of OT outcome measures
- Detailed knowledge and application of principles of clinical governance
- The ability to travel within a geographical area to meet the requirements of the post
- Ability to work flexibly and respond to unpredictable work demands
