Hopewood Hospital in Sherwood, Nottingham has 32 beds across 3 wards and is based on site with an education facility for our inpatients, a CAMHS community base with specialist teams and both inpatient and community perinatal teams.

Currently Hercules Ward, Phoenix Ward and Pegasus Ward have exciting opportunities for an experienced RMN or RNLD, RGN or RSCN to join our teams.

Hercules Ward is an 8 bedded psychiatric intensive care unit that works with young people experience severe and enduring mental health problems. We work closely with families and a full MDT to ensure positive outcomes for young people and we encourage staff to be fully involved in patients care and participate in both group and 1:1 work.

Phoenix Ward is a busy 12 bedded general acute ward 24 hours a day, providing highly specialist services, 7 days a week, to young people aged 12 to 18, who are experiencing a range of mental health and emotional difficulties. We have a large MDT and lots of opportunity to ensure a wide range of therapeutic intervention.

Pegasus Ward is a specialist eating disorder ward. Family based treatment is integral to the treatment and recovery of young people with eating disorders and families and carers are encouraged to be fully involved in their care; there are therefore opportunities for staff to be involved in family work as well as individual & group work with the young people.

Main duties of the job

Our nurses have a key clinical role within a well established multidisciplinary team. You will need to demonstrate that you have experience of working with people with mental health problems and supporting carers /families in an acute environment. You should have a working knowledge of the management of safeguarding processes, have excellent communication and leadership skills

For successful RGN, RSCN applicants the role would entail all nursing duties as detailed in the job description but also include supporting the ward staff with physical health interventions, responding to physical health concerns that may arise across site, supporting the implementation of physical health care plans and staff development and training in relation to physical health as well as having a key role within mental health support and recovery. You would be supported with development and training opportunities in Mental Health intervention through internal training opportunities and supervision as well as the physical healthcare team. This role ensures holistic care is considered within the patient journey.
