We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, experienced and motivated Band 7 Highly Specialist Eating Disorders Practitioner to join the Connect: West Yorkshire Eating Disorder Service. We are looking for an experienced Registered Mental Health Nurse or Occupational Therapist to join our award winning team.

We provide community treatment to Leeds and West Yorkshire residents with a diagnosed Eating Disorder. In addition, we also provide care and support with the aim of improving peoples' quality of life, managing their physical risks and focusing on recovery. There is an expectation the successful candidate will work across the West Yorkshire Service Area and therefore flexibility and adaptability are essential qualities that need to be demonstrated.

It is desirable that the successful candidate has experience working with people with eating disorders, either in an Inpatient or Outpatient/ Community setting, as well as demonstrating clinical leadership skills and being enthusiastic and motivated to working with individuals with different and often complex needs.

The service is committed to individuals own personal CPD and you will be supported through the Trusts supervision and appraisal systems.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will provide advanced clinical advice & consultation, case management and support to highly complex service users with eating disorders in line with evidence-based practice, locally agreed pathways and NICE guidelines. You will be working across an allocated group of West Yorkshire service users with a diagnosis of eating disorders in the community, as part of a remote working and home intervention program.

You will undertake, interpret, and act on complex information gathered from a range of sources, including information from other agencies and professionals, using sound knowledge of evidence-based practice, advanced clinical reasoning skills and experience in applying relevant treatment approaches. You will work alongside the multidisciplinary team to develop and deliver excellent care for patients, you will be providing clinical leadership and input into consultations, assessments and interventions for complex referrals and cases.

You will have a good understanding of eating disorders and the impact of complex trauma and demonstrate skills in developing compassionate relationships to enable change.

You may also lead on strategic developments within Connect, in liaison with your line manager and working together with the wider MDT. You will also lead on the development and delivery of training and professional mentorship in your specialism.

Job responsibilities

You will work as part of a developing multi-disciplinary team to provide a high quality service to people with eating disorders and you will be responsible for your own clinical caseload and assist the service in providing integrated and comprehensive treatment programmes. Working within a community setting you will assess, plan and manage the complex needs of individuals with eating disorders whilst also assessing for any psychiatric co-morbidity and other relevant needs with the support from the MDT. You will also participate in in the planning and delivery of a group therapy programme which is in line with evidence based practice treatment outlined within NICE guidance.

As an established experienced eating disorder practitioner you will oversee physical health monitoring and lead the wider MDT to help establish a treatment plans in collaboration with the service user. You will provide training and expertise to the wider MDT around physical health monitoring and complete audits for the Connect Service. You will represent the service in forums within the organisation and partnership organisations in matters relevant to specific area of responsibility.

You will maintain and demonstrate own CPD, keeping up to date with clinical developments & current research and evidence-based practice to ensure own and others practice is safe and effective.
