Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care Trust are excited to advertise a new position within the Worcestershire Adults Eating Disorders Service. We are looking for a caring, compassionate Mental Health Practitioner to join our team in a specialist clinical role.
Eating Disorder services is undergoing further expansion as part of the mental health community transformation, for which the trust is an early implementer. The post holder will be supported to learn the skillset needed to offer specialist assessment and evidence based treatment to our client group.
About the service:
The Eating Disorders Teams is a countywide service that provides clinical management and psychological interventions for people with eating disorders across Worcestershire.
You will be joining a well-established multidisciplinary team who values the variety of skills, knowledge and experience each member brings.

Main duties of the job
We are looking for caring and enthusiastic individuals with an interest in eating disorders to take a specialist clinical role within our Worcestershire Outpatient Eating Disorder Service.
The postholder should experience working within an MDT to support the delivery of good quality care to adults with eating disorders. The postholder should also have excellent communication skills, as part of the role entails building and maintaining working relationships with service users, carers, and other healthcare professionals. The postholder will need to have an interest in working with people with eating disorders and be keen to learn skills needed to be able to provide evidence-based care for our client group. The postholder will be supported to undertake the relevant training in the therapeutic interventions we offer to achieve this. The postholder will also be supported to complete their preceptorship if needed.

Job description Job responsibilities
- Maintain high standards of care, working with clients to ensure this is maintained, whilst promoting recovery and independence.
- To learn and eventually implement NICE Guidance recommended treatments to a caseload of clients.
- Arrange and manage own timetable of clients.
- To learn the skills to offering assessments for clients referred to the service.
- Liaise with and, with support, refer clients to other healthcare/mental health professionals as appropriate and according to their individual needs.
- Liaise with the Clinical Lead to arrange admissions for patients to Specialist Eating Disorder Units for assessment or urgent admission when necessary.
- Support the running of group treatment sessions.
- Maintain comprehensive client records.
- Write reports on clients and the service for GPs and other professions, as required.
- Participate multi-agency professionals meetings.
Person Specification Qualifications Essential
- RMN
- Eating Disorders qualification e.g. Diploma in Practitioner Skills for Eating Disorders or equivalent
- Psychotherapy qualification e.g. basic certificate in counselling
- One years experience working with people with mental health (this can be pre-qualification experience)
- Experience working within eating disorders
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English in both verbal and written formats
- Ability to work effectively within an MDT
- Ability to use computerised systems and clinical data bases
- Up to date knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983 & Mental Capacity Act 2006
- Understanding of trauma and self-harm
- Understanding of the Medical Emergencies in Eating Disorders [MEED] Guidance.
- Knowledge and understanding of NICE guidance for the management of eating disorders.
- Ability to meet the travel requirements of the role
