An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Band 6 Physiotherapist to join the inpatient therapy team at Liskeard Hospital.

We are looking for a flexible, reliable person who enjoys working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and has leadership skills and qualities.

This post will be covering Liskeard Hospital inpatients primarily, providing rehabilitation to a complex and varied caseload and facilitating timely discharge.

The Integrated Therapy Team also provides outreach into the East Cornwall community to follow up discharged patients in their home environments to achieve short term goals.

On occasions, there will be a requirement for the post-holder to support the local Community Rehabilitation Team, Home First Team and Launceston Hospital inpatient team .

Flexible working patterns would be considered. This is a full time role, working 37.5 hours

Ability to travel independently essential

Seven-day working could become an operational requirement of this post in the future.

Main duties of the job

The purpose of the post is:
  • To provide a high standard physiotherapy service, performing advanced assessments of patients including those with highly complex presentations, and from this formulating a diagnosis and treatment plan.
  • To provide leadership for support staff and junior staff through supervision, training and appraisal.
  • To participate in the planning and development of Physiotherapy Services within the designated team.
  • To work predominantly in the in-patient setting but also community and rehabilitation outpatient departments as required.
  • Seven day working could become an operational requirement of this post in the future.

Key Dimensions of the post are:
  • Specialist Physiotherapy Rehabilitation services, providing evidence based intervention to patient group.
  • Specialist advice and support to Physiotherapy and the wider multidisciplinary team.

Person Specification Education and Qualifications Essential
  • Professional qualification - Physiotherapy
  • HCPC registered
  • IELTS unless qualification taken in English
Experience Essential
  • Extensive experience of working within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience of managing people, including qualified and unqualified, in clinical care.
  • Experience of managing the risks associated with managing patients unsupervised and in a lone working environment.
Skills and Aptitude Essential
  • High level of specialist assessment and treatment skills
Other Essential
  • Ability to travel independently when required to meet the requirements of the role
Knowledge and Abilities Essential
  • Reflective and analytical practitioner, with portfolio of evidence to support this
