Are you an Occupational Therapist wanting to work with People with Learning Disabilities?

We are looking for a Full time Occupational Therapist to join the Sturminster Newton Community Learning Disabilities team, to work in partnership with people with learning disabilities, their families and carers to support them to live successfully in the community and provide high quality occupational therapy for individuals and groups.

You will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary with nurses and physiotherapists, and with good links with speech and language therapists, psychologists and psychiatrists. You will be part of a network of learning disability OTs based within the community learning disability teams across Dorset.

Working in a Learning Disability service will give an occupational therapist an opportunity to facilitate the development of the full range of function (physical, cognitive, interpersonal, and intrapersonal) in the occupational areas of productivity, self care and leisure for person LD who have been referred to occupational therapy for assessment and treatment.

Main duties of the job

To work in people's own homes and a variety of community settings as a member of the integrated community learning disability team, in conjunction with other team members and the Clinical Lead providing occupational therapy assessment and treatment for adults with a learning disability (LD), in accordance with the Valuing People principles of providing opportunities for people with learning disabilities for greater independence, choice, well-being and control.

You will also be able to provide individual and group interventions and therapy that facilitate the development of the full range of function (physical, cognitive, interpersonal, and intrapersonal) in the occupational areas of productivity, self care and leisure for people with LD who have been referred to occupational therapy.
