Band 7 full-time (potential to consider a part-time 3 day/ 0.6 role with cPTSD only)

Haringey Secondary Care Psychological Therapies serves a client group with severe and complex, non-psychotic illness. Presenting issues range from a single diagnosis such as depression requiring a single psychological therapy intervention, through to those requiring intensive treatment packages and/or with co-morbid difficulties requiring multi-disciplinary packages of care.

This vacancy is for a full-time clinical or counselling psychologist. Please note, this role includes working 3 days a week within the complex PTSD team and 2 days a week working with the Psychological Therapies pathway. Whilst you will be offering clinical interventions within the psychological Therapies pathway you will be based very much within the Complex PTSD Team. Whilst we are keen to find a full-time candidate there may be potential to consider a part-time role - 3 days a week with the cPTSD team only.

The complex-PTSD treatment Pathway is a small, supportive, and contained team of staff, including Psychologists, Psychiatrists, an Associate Mental Health Worker and an Assistant Psychologist. We believe in the importance of multidisciplinary working that is collaborative, respectful, and integrative, with a particular focus on therapeutic interventions.

Main duties of the job

You will provide specialist input into the PTSD Treatment Pathway and the Psychological Therapies Pathway. The cPTSD pathway provides a phased treatment programme for service users presenting with complex and comorbid PTSD symptoms. Treatment modules include values based behavioural activation, group psycho-education work and trauma focused therapies including Narrative Exposure Therapy, EMDR and Trauma Focused CBT. The service users worked with may have experienced extreme and on-going trauma, are often refugees or have a history of childhood neglect and/or abuse.

Haringey Psychological Therapies Pathway offer evidence-based psychological therapies as recommended by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE). Your role would include assessment and treatment of patients with depression, anxiety, or other common mental health problems and/or a long-term condition or medically unexplained symptoms or insomnia.
  • Specialist screening, assessment and treatment of patients within the specialist Post Traumatic Stress Disorder treatment pathway.
  • Working with the PTSD lead and other PTSD Stream clinicians to support and innovate in the development of the treatment programme.
  • Together with the Lead, serving as the 'face' of the PTSD treatment stream in liaising with members of the wider team, patients, referrers and other external organisations.

Note interviews will he held on Monday 13th February 2023
