An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Trainee CAMHS Non-Medical Prescriber to join our innovative and growing CAMHS Non-Medical Prescriber team, based at Falcon House within the grounds of St James' Hospital, Portsmouth on a full-time basis.

We are seeking to recruit an innovative, motivated, creative, enthusiastic, and highly organised Nurse who is keen on working with children/young people with their medication plans in line with diagnosis' such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Depression and Anxiety. This is all part of our QNCC Excellent Accredited CAMHS service in Portsmouth. This is an exciting time to join the service and have real input into how Solent NHS Trust CAMHS teams develops and embeds its prescribing pathway across the Solent CAMHS organisation.

We are looking for a dedicated professional who shares our Trust's HEART values and is committed to working collaboratively as part of our Multi-Disciplinary Team delivering a high standard of patient-centred care. The successful applicant will be fully funded and supported through the V300 Supplementary and Independent Non-Medical Prescribing training program by the CAMHS Prescribing team, whilst working with the CAMHS Prescribing team.

Main duties of the job

*To provide specialist assessments and interventions to children and young people accessing CAMHS East (Portsmouth). This is to include pharmacological interventions as a non-medical prescriber.

*To participate in the review of clinical policies and guidelines relevant to the area and support and implement changes to practice; liaise with other organisations and professionals to promote communication and good practice; be able to undertake audit activity and supervision to other staff in service area/care group. Have an understanding of psychosocial interventions to include psycho-education, wellness recovery action plans, and discharge planning.

*To undertake nurse prescribing training and to work as a nurse prescriber within the CAMHS team, following this as an independent prescriber within areas of clinical competence and with regard to patients multi-disciplinary treatment and in-line with NMC and Solent Trust prescribing policies.

*To work alongside Team Leads and other colleagues in CAMHS East to embed a robust and continually improving approach to children and young people presenting in mental health crisis and requiring a higher intensity care package.

*There is an expectation that this post holder will be able to offer flexible working hours which may include evening and weekend work.

*The post holder will be expected to take online management and clinical supervision responsibilities.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • Professional qualifications relevant to CAMHS e.g., Registered Nurse
  • Degree or equivalent level training relevant to Child and Adolescent Mental Health
  • Significant senior practitioner experience within a mental health setting
Desirable
  • V300 - Supplementary and Independent Non-Medical Prescriber qualification
  • Teaching qualification
  • Management or training qualification
Experience Essential
  • Experience of working with complex children, young people and families, experiencing severe mental health and trauma difficulties
  • Supervisory skills -- caseload management and clinical supervision
  • Ability to chair and facilitate team and multi-agency meetings
  • Experience of multi professional/multi-agency working
  • Appraiser of junior staff and/or peers
