Located in Kings Norton, Birmingham, Cygnet Wast Hills provides support for 21 individuals with autism, learning disabilities and complex needs. The team can also support individuals who may be detained under the Mental Health Act, as well as those who have complex behaviours, or who have significant difficulties with social engagement.

Main duties of the job

As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will work as an autonomous clinician, providing specialist assessment and treatment of occupational dysfunction.

You will lead the occupational therapy department, and be part of the senior management team. An integral part of this role will be supporting student education within the team.

This role includes opportunities for learning, development and research, supported by a robust appraisal and supervision structure based on RCOTs Career Development Framework.

Salary: Starting from £42,000 pro rata per annum

Working hours:16 hours - 28 hours per week

Service Line: Learning Disability Mental Health

Summary of the site

Located in Kings Norton, Birmingham, Cygnet Wast Hills provides support for 21 individuals with autism, learning disabilities and complex needs. The team can also support individuals who may be detained under the Mental Health Act, as well as those who have complex behaviours, or who have significant difficulties with social engagement. We accept emergency referrals and the team is experienced in managing them quickly and efficiently to ensure the transition for the individual is as smooth as possible.

Cygnet Wast Hills is currently undergoing a refurbishment to improve the environment for the individuals we support and allow them more opportunities to progress through their care pathway towards greater independence.

In line with building the right support, we support individuals who have different levels of need in their own space which is tailored to their own sensory needs.
  • 8 en-suite bedrooms and 3 bespoke single occupancy flats in the main house New refurbished beds available in early 2023
  • 3 bespoke single occupancy flats in the courtyard that is attached to the main house New refurbished beds available in early 2023
  • 4 bespoke single occupancy flats in the Annexe New refurbished beds now open
  • 3 bespoke single occupancy flats in the Gate Lodge New refurbished beds opening in mid-2023

The ideal candidate will be Sensory Intergration qualified, but are happy to support the right candidate to complete this training

Occupational Therapy Directorate

Under the leadership of our occupational therapy directors we support over 150 Occupational Therapists. Working together as a large team we provide support to each other across the group, with the opportunity to be part of specialist interest groups & become involved in service development.

Every service line has a clinical lead occupational therapist to lead and develop evidence based practice and agreed occupational therapy pathway.

We ensure our occupational therapists have a voice through participating in service model development, utilising the expertise and support of our clinical lead occupational therapists.
